Personally I would get Slee Sliders.
Also, you need to make sure you get the ones specifically made for 97 FZJ-80 since you have to deal with the exhaust clearance.

You cannot go wrong with the MetalTech sliders...they are incredible.
They are solid...as a demonstration of how solid they are I had them delivered to my friends restaurant whilst I was living in Hong Kong; the delivery driver stated the following to my buddy:
"These are some heavy frame rails...are you building a race car?"
My buddy had to tell him they were sliders and explain what sliders were...the delivery driver then asked if they were for a full size Hummer.
None the less, check them out and the customer service at MetalTech is second to none. You can also pick them up from Iron Pig Offroad.

So is the kick out not an advantage to have on the rear. You know I got this pretty cruiser that i hope to not scratch. I was thinking to they were a little different setup than most I see on the forum. Of course there probaly is a good reason. I found the site on an old posting about sliders.

The MetalTech sliders for the 1997 Landcruiser do have "kick-outs". If you check pictures 1 and 4 (that I posted) you can see the kick-out. Granted, those pictures do not show the "kick-out" very well...trust me when I tell you it is a "kick-out" and it will get your rear-end around some tough obstacles. I have used the "kick-out" numerous times against trees and rocks and all without any damage to the rear quarter panels.
Let me know if you have any further questions and/or if you would like me to shoot you some pictures...I can go downstairs to the garage and shoot a few for you from the side or any angle you prefer.

fjfar80 does not scrimp on anything. If he gets it its usually because it is the best.

They are an inch shorter and offer no cat protection but I will have a custom cat cover made instead.

If you're gonna buy them then - metaltech... thems the shunt. if I drove a big ghey 80 that's what I'd get too.
Slee's are good too though.
If you're gonna buy the DIY, then just go to the local metal shop and do it all yourself and save $200 cause the hardest part about building sliders is the legs and all the DIY kits that you can buy from a vender leave the legs for you... the rest is easy.
If you have a buddy who can weld, it's stupidly easy to replicate all the awesome sliders you need and depending on steel prices I've actually gotten out of the metal shop with $100 worth of steel. here's mines in process as we speak... yeah, it's only a 2x4 at the moment, but all the measurements have been made and I've got all the steel already so there's only cuttin' and weldin' left. I've done/assisted in 3 other 80's and a 60 like this. Saves about $500 per set. That's the welder cost in one set of sliders right there.
(yeah, that 80 be leakin' but it ain't coming from it's shunt)

the best choice i think is metal tech's, then slee's. there is also hanna quality, trail gear, marlin crawler. Marlin's you would have to get one that measures around 62 inches i believe and weld them up. 4xinnovations.com i believe makes a kit with catalytic converter protection. I built mine and it took forever.
