It's an E-ZUP sun shelter, I was in Death Valley last Easter week end, Temps were in the upper 90* ......Dusty

A shame Earthroamer didn't choose the FJcruiser instead... but this is nice... if you can afford to spend around 100k....

You still won't have any room to sleep after you load up all the spare parts it will take to get that jeep home

For the one who posted about sleeping in the back of their 40, you must be in the 5' range because there's no way an average person could lay down in the back of a 40 with less than half their body sticking out the back.

Rooftop tent is the way to go. It sucks having to rearrange all your gear in the dark just to make room to sleep.

Put on a new ARB full roof rack and toss a roof tent up there... That's what I am gonna do! :D

I have been looking at this, as I have a Hannibal tent that was on my 60 series. However, the ARB will need to have either the front or the rear rails chopped off to make this work, as it has no allotment for a tent. Certainly it is looks strong enough. One could also build some bars that span the rack and mount the tent on that, but then you are getting pretty tall- which might look bad, high COG, and wind noise. I think I'd chop the front and go for a Gobi ladder in the back.

Just be careful, those things are heavy. I know that there has been more than one occasion where if I was even a wee bit more top heavy, I would have rolled.

You're right, they choose the wrong car.. but the design is not that bad.. from their website:
"EarthRoamer XV-JP
The Jeep Rubicon Unlimited based EarthRoamer XV-JP is designed to carry two adults on technical four-wheel drive trails to remote camping locations. Once in camp, the XV-JP's Loftop™ can be deployed to provide nearly 9 feet of interior stand up height and a queen-size bed in the loft. Underneath the cantilevered loft, the rear tent can be dropped down for an additional bug free living space. The XV-JP comes equipped with 25 gallons of fresh water capacity, an inside cassette toilet, inside shower, sink and cooking facilities. Plenty of light and ventilation is provided by an abundance of screened windows. An electric fan provides additional ventilation when needed and the forced air furnace will keep you cozy on cold nights and when winter camping."

The price is VERY high though.....around $100k:eek:

can anyone say rooftop tent

Well I had planned on using it for mainly trips to the beach so I didn't have to have a tent full of sand..... :D

PS Heather your FJ is on my desktop as a background :D It's on the Over the mountain trip you took.... Your Cruiser is sitting in front of a mud hole with a yellow one right behind. I think there is a 40 series behind that yellow one.....

ARB roof top tent?

I have the full size ARB rack. I also notices that ARB makes a 5" wider tent roof rack. I don't know which you will need for your tent plans. Check this out before you spend the $$$$.

ARB is bringing some of these in to the US in the next month or so. They should be releasing prices soon. If you are interested email or PM me and I can notify you with pricing.

They are beautiful accessories!

I just took out the rear bottom seat cusions, folded the rear seats down, pushed the front seats forward, and threw an air bed in the back. Worked great for me, and only cost about $30.

The 60 is more comfortable.

There is another thread on the mud board for FJ Cruisers that a fellow made a sweet platform similar to the thread above. His version has a queen size bed blown up on it with him sleeping on it...
