Slee 6" Springs more lift than J's and 1.5" spacers??

I loved the 864's for my application (850, 864 with 1 1/2 spacers, ran 35 MTR, regeared)as well(before the 6''s extra heavy). 40gallon sub, drawer system, rear tire carrier, tools. Only towed once in a while. All real stable, not harsh in the rear. I beleive that the 864's are great if you have a constant load of more than 400lbs, anything less, it get jumpy, in the rear. The combo above was alot more stable on expedition type of dirt road traveling fast, then my currant set up. I some time wish I has saved the old springs and spacers for some trips that they were more suited for. later robbie

Finished the install on the slee springs last night...... The cruiser looks crazy!!! I measured with the old setup (OME J's + 1.5" spacers) and the new setup (Slee 6" + 1.5 spacers) and get a gain of 3" instantly. Wow 3" ...

Here is couple pics of the Slee 6" w/1.5 spacers in the front only (for right now). We have not installed the rear upper control arms yet, thats why we have not out in the rear spacers. Cruiser is not level right now, the rear sits about an 1" lower than the front. I Will take some more pics when we get the control arms on and rear spacers...:

EDIT: Do you mean OME 863 in the rear? OME 963 has a much lower spring rate (softer)

Same question for you.
How big of tires on each rig?

Looks really nice by the way.
Really really nice. :)

Very good point Dan. It is hard to cater to both setups (loaded/unloaded) on the same springs, trade-offs.

On a side note, I am interested to hear how you like your 864's in the rear... We put some in the rear of a guys 80 last year as he tows a trailer on a regular basis in addition to constant gear on the back... He has been very happy with them, but doesn't care of the unloaded ride at all... Your thoughts?

Various spring rates for the masses :D

Hey Kurt,

I am running the 850/864 combo un-armored (which you know all about :) ). I like it so far. Unloaded I have a pretty good rake going. Once I get my field gear loaded or someone the size of Alvin/MaddBaggins hanging on the bumper, it evens out nicely.

My first trip on the 864 was relatively light (not a full load) so had the stinkbug stance. I thought I would suffer over the washboards. It was no worse than normal, but I think it was better. Then again, I used to drive pickups over the same road, so I wouldn't know what a good ride is anyway.

The truck belongs to a good customer of mine, Troy Demill. He is running Cooper Discover STT 285/75/16's. :D

Thanks for the insight Ross, seems they work well in alot of situations... Time to get armored... :D

It has the L shocks installed, what we need is bigger tires. 37's in the near future?????????:)

I don't think an 11" travel shock mounted in the stock position is anywhere near long enough for that much lift. Slee uses these on the 4" lift...they will be extended 3.5" more on your lift...I doubt you'd have more than 3-4" of down travel left...and there is no way you'll have a good balance between up and down travel.

Did you measure how much down travel was available when you reconnected them?

Nay

I'll be redundant and say I've run 850/864s for a while and personally prefer the 864s significanlty more than the 863s I used to have. I'm always moderately loaded even on the lightest of runs, and my 863s made the saggin' wagon. IMO, the ride is equivalent without the sag.

I'd disconnect your front shocks and verify that you can get the front end to droop beyond what your current L-shock gives you. It's deceiving to compare pics to ActionJackson's or AMMO's because their body lifts (not that you or anyone else did) :grinpimp:

I'm running this exact setup with a 1" body lift and the 37" Toyo's.

True, true-the Ls are going to kill your flex. I am at the limit and just riding the flat roads till I save some $$$ for bilstiens or somtin. Making me fret :crybaby:

I am running Js with 2.5" spacers in front, 1.18" spacer in rear.

I'd go 36.5s or 37s soon, but MAN! Dem shocks bein expensivle-nizzle.

Where are you getting your spacers in those sizes?

[edit] - Rear sounds like MAF? Fronts might be the ones a guy here was making?
