That means absolutely nothing. No disrespect, but off road tires are an option with a bump in price, usually. Unless they’re part of a package, but the package will also bump the $.
Exactly!
Didn't our rigs come with P rated tires from the factory?
Sure they came with smaller tires too from the factory. When you upgrade to larger tires and all these accessories that increase weight. Thats all out the window. P tires are not meant for offroad use. Will it work? Sure it will but for how long till it will fail? Use whatever you want to use. Its your choice on what you decide to buy at the end of the day and if safety is a concern or not. P-rated tires will not handle sidewall abuse offroad and will eventually leave you stranded.

Lastly.... be honest with yourself. Is it going to stay in stock configuration for long till you start adding more modifications? Don't fool yourself that you won't MOD it, you bought an LC for a reason and obviously came on MUD as well. Plan ahead on your purchases to not have to buy twice. I always go by the policy. "Buy once cry once".

If you're going to spend more time on the dirt in the future then spend the money. If this is a one-and-done outing then take your time and you'll be fine, you aren't far from civilization. Tires are the most important upgrade we do to our vehicles, but if you only see dirt once a year then spending $800 may not be worth it.

A decent compressor a plug kit is always good to have, if you plan on doing this regularly. Expensive tires can pick up nails almost as well as cheaper ones.

Enjoy, the San Juans are beautiful
