I don't know much in the way of the 7x series trucks but have a 1hz/h55 drive train going into a 40 and am wondering if there is a company that is making skid plate cross members similar to what i can pic up for a 80 series of if the 80 series ones would work with minimal modification..

The 7* series had it's own plate across the gearbox. I think it must have been an extra because not all of them have it. My 73 series had one and so does my current 75 series. Maybe one could be cut and redrilled to a 40 series width

According to this the 40 and 70 are very close in track width , so it would probably be close in frame dimensions.
TLC FAQ - 4.2 Specifications

But someone use to make a skid plate for the 40 that also replaced the crossmember. The H55F will be in the same place as the gearbox on a 2F.

yes, i am trying to track down something like that.

The frame widths are in the body and chassis manual. I don't think it would be too hard to make one. Start off with some cardboard and bend it till it has clearance all over, then get a metal shop to bend one.
Or ask on the 40 series forum about the pre made ones.
