From Wednesday, 06/20 - Working on finishing up wiring. Finished painting interior frame. Wired fridge in for 110VAC/12VDC. Cut holes for stereo mounting, 110VAC and 12VDC outlets. Wired and connected outside outlet on driver's side.

Headed to town for a 5-1/8 inch hole saw to cut in the speakers. Will wire them up, but I'll hold off on the final attachment of the walls until I find outdoor lights. Plan to pick up fiberglass in the morning and I'm hoping that Eclipse has the same lights as I used before. I had wanted to change to using all LED's throughout the build, but it does not appear that is going to happen. Still, with the killer battery it will have little affect. - Bob

06/23... I really got a lot done yesterday, buttoning up a lot more today is the plan. Should have all the doors on today and the water heater in working condition electrically, still have the plumbing to do. Connect the water tank to the access door and run vents for all tanks.

Have to remove rear door to put the glass under the hinge, so the rear door will be last to be done. Still have to cut speaker holes for the interior. Wish I had done that before the top went on, but only have help when it is available. Have to pick up trim this afternoon. Got most of it the other day at Eclipse but they do not carry the stuff I need.

Exterior 12-volt plugs came in so should get them done today, two standard ones still needed.

Hope to have the top done by the end of the weekend and have the A/C put up on Monday night. I am looking at mounting the Foxwing awning differently than they are designed for. I do not like how they stick way above the trailer. I'll try to design a bracket to hold it down lower, keeping it more out of the wind I guess. We will see how it turns out. - Bob

Sorry for the poor picture quality, the camera does not like to take pictures in dark situations.

Cut in all the speaker holes, mounted the exterior ones. Will wire them up tomorrow. Wired in the water pump. Discovered why the 12-volt did not work initaily, I had forgotten the DC ground to the frame. It's all working fine now. - Bob

Looking great Bob...is that Filon?...and how did you like it?

Thanks, Pat

I honestly am not sure of what it is. It is the RV industry standard I am sure of that. It is used on almost all RV coaches and trailers these days. It is not fun working with, as it is fiberglass, and you itch like heck at night. With 1/4 luan and it glued together then glued to 3/8 plywood, it is a very tough wall that is for sure.

Got the roof on this morning, did not have to take the back door off so was very happy about that.

Will silicone the roof area and then do the trim. Hope to have the AC on tonight. At least setting up there. Need supplies to finish the water system and start on the propane set up. Still have electrical to button up, but with a little luck it should be done by the end of the week.

Production

I will only build 8 a year at the max, as these are my babies. I have decided not to mass produce the trailer, although I had serious interest from investors and manufacturers.

I want to keep the quality, and do keep them the best off road tear drop out there.

I am not a vendor on this site yet, had promised woody I would be, but financially just can not do it this month, so I can not discuss sales or production times. PM me and I will give you my email address if you have interest.

Got the roof on today, AC on top, water system almost done, did speaker wires, and exterior light wires, put in front window.

Done for the night, riding my bike in the morning, and picking up junk to finish up a couple of things. - Bob

Still have a small piece of carpet at the front to put in. Ordered lights and want to have them show up before I put that in. It hides the wires and needs to be in the right place for the channel cut in the botton for them to run. AC is installed, heating unit is installed, and cover is buttoned up.
These are not designed for welded units, takes time to locate the pin hole the screw has to fit into after drilling the pilot. Have to come up with a better plan on those, takes way too much time.
Will finish speaker wires in the rear and back, button up 12VDC wiring at the battery. Then I'll get started on the back door. - Bob

From this morning... Considerable progress yesterday. Finished almost all of the carpeting. Still waiting on lights. A/C and Heat units are in. All speakers are wired and enclosed on the rear. Will wire the radio in today. Started on the rear door. Areas on the door need to be routered so it will follow the contour of the door. Should have it on and done today. Plumbing almost complete. Still have fluid level module to figure out and install.

Botton of trailer needs to be siliconed and axle changed out. Will pick up the slide for the fridge today.

Off to town to get goodies. - Bob

Sunday 07/08/12 update...

I ran the XM/Sirius antenna under some 3M anti-skid. Very strong stuff, should keep it there with out moving and protect it from anything put on the roof rack (if it ever gets here). Finished the gas lines, realized a mistake was made so have to redo it today, top feed instead of bottom feed. Installed new TV wall mount, still have to run cable to it. Installed aluminum floor barrier/insulation and the Restava 8-inch memory foam mattress with two pillows. Closed the interior, hoping not to go in again. In and out of that sucker 10K times if once. Back is killing me, lol.

Do not have enough insert for the trim, will pick that up tomorrow with the other side handrail, and will install both. Do the trim and then do the silicone on the outside and look at the bottom for any areas missed. Fill with water and propane and see where the leaks are. Install the back sliding doors. I am doing them like my original idea of all fiberglass, much stronger and will stay clean easier. Had thought about doing it the same as the upper wood, but feel it would get dirty and never come clean and be far easier to break.

Change in plans on the graphics. Will not be done until Tuesday now. The guy is out of town teaching classes on vinyl wrapping. Goes all over the world, supposedly one of the best, trained by the originator of wrapping while stationed in Europe years ago. Pretty amazing, the money he makes for the classes.

Have to have it wrapped up by end of day Tuesday, so back to work. - Bob
