Meeting place sounds good for Sat Morning - I may still try to bug out Friday evening. I'll call you if I do Mo.

Sounds good, I definitely cannot make it Fri night, so let me know.

OK, latest on spaces:

- all reservable sites are reserved at Crabs

- there are 5 non-reservable sites but can't tell if occupied or not

not good for those of us winging it...

other campgrounds nearby? dang... no, nothing available apparently

Sorry to hear that. :frown: Is the other half of Dan's site taken?

what are you guys plans for Sunday, if anybody knows?

I think we are going to decide then. I know some will be heading home, but I plan on heading out for a trail or two before I leave. :D

I'll probably 'try' to sleep in a little, cook a nice breakfast and head home to catch the final round of the US Open. That plan will also beat the nutty LA asshat drivers that don't know how to drive mountain roads down.

Not yet. AFAIC it's yours, and I'm sure you can pay Kevin next week (remember, he takes PayPal).

I'll be going up tonight after work. I have no CB installed, I'm not sure if I'll find my 2-way radios before I leave, and I'm sure cell phone reception is nil. But I'll be up there!

In the event that I find my 2-way radios, or go nuts and buy a hand-held CB today, I'll be monitoring Channel 17 (on both) tonight and tomorrow.

I'm looking forward to seeing the group again, and finally meeting those who couldn't make the Wildomar run. I'm also looking forward to a relaxing weekend with family and friends. To me, that's what SoCal 80's is all about.:smokin:

Dan, IIRC there is cellphone reception in Green Valley Lake. Whether there will be at Crab Flats 4 1/2 miles off the road I don't know.

Thanks, Brent, good to know.

In the event of cell phone reception at the campground, my #'s are:

Verizon - 951-285-2698
Nextel - 909-376-3256

I'm not sure which provider will have better coverage up there.

I've got Verizon and haven't had any issues in the area. Our scout troop stays in Green Valley Lake when we take them up skiing every year. I've passed the signs to these 4WD trails a dozen times and always wondered where they went. I get to find out this weekend!

Thinking about heading up, Saturday night or early Sunday, so what's the trail plan/meet sport for a Sunday run?

You can run any trail in Big Bear with a 2.5” lift, some good tires, and sliders with an 80. I’ve done J.bull and Holcomb Creek several times including when I had no lift and stock height tires. Rear locker helps for some of the rock gardens.

One of the best trails around is Dishpan Springs (Deep Creek) which has been closed for a few years but just reopened.

My suggestion for Sunday is run Holcomb Creek east to west followed by Dishpan Springs. If time permits Rouse Ranch, Willow Creek out to the Pinnacles

There's no real plan for Sunday, yet. I'm probably going to bug out sometime mid-morning, but I think Slomo and possibly some others are planning to run some trails.

Dan, Brent and I are going to be sharing a site. We set that up before we heard that Mangler had to cancel. Sorry about the confusion and nothing personal I swear. :D Just hung up with Tare, he will have 3 vehicles total coming up and one of his friends would love to use it if that is ok with you. I told him I would let you know and he will check in here to set it up with you.

I can't wait to see everyone again and wheel. :bounce: I am geeking.

Also Brent, Myself, Tare and his two friends will be coming up and should arrive about 9-930. We will be on channel 17. At least 4 vehicles maybe 5 will be wheeling on Sunday before departing.

Sorry, I think I caused the confusion by quoting you instead of e9999.:whoops: Knowing that you were already set up with a campsite, the offer for Kevin's half of our site was directed toward e9999.

There's still a half site available next to the bar!

thanks for offering the site.
Looks like I may not be making it up there tonite. So feel free, of course, to let somebody else use it.

I might be able to make it Sat, but not sure. Been even toying with the idea of going on Sunday and staying a couple of weekdays up there. But I'd miss most of you guys, that'd be a pity.

Have a safe weekend everybody. :)
It doesnt appear to be last minute this time. :o

Sorry you guys can't make it. :frown: Always the optimist I was sure you both would show up just in time to wheel. I was looking forward to meeting you both, perhaps next time. We will take pictures, and wheel a little extra, chat a little extra, drink a little extra..... Just for you guys. :flipoff2: Now to follow the mantra of my sig line and pack and get everything ready for the am departure.

Have fun and I should have my lifts (heavy by the end of summer) so I have something to show the next time around.

As a consolation prize, I did mount my chrome LX450 rims today. Replaced the PO placed Weld Stone Crusher copycats with them.

I wanted to show them to Oldgoat since he has chrome rims also - I basically painted the windows and stripe matching black with the bumpers. Less bling not 100% chrome. I think OEM is best and they are hard to find at good prices so I snatched them even though theyre chrome.

Heres how I got them - pretty huh. Final product pic (total $15 in material used) when its daylight.

You guys have a blast! Make sure to take a ton of pics. Don't let Tare take all the pics since his have to be commited to the double secret Primedia file not for public pleasure ;) :D . I want to see some pics dammit! I will pray for no carnage for you all.

Let'em shine, brutha! I think I get an extra mpg or so from the chrome wheels, and chicks really dig them.

You missed a great weekend. The weather was perfect, and good wheeling was had by all. The Saturday night potluck was delicious! I snapped a few pics, but left the camera at home, so I'll try to post some tonight.

As far as carnage goes, we didn't do too bad as a group. But one rig did get a couple of "rock kisses", but I'll let Ray tell the tale.:D

Had a blast! Weather was great, friends were great, food was great. I am going to have to continue to teach you rookies what good cooking is tho! :D

Pics later.

I already started a nice pics thread for you guys ;) . I didn't want you to have any excuses not to post a ton of pics  . just wanted to help you guys out. Feel free to make those of us who could not make it even more jealous.
