Nice write up! I've always wanted to learn more about soldering & brazing. Would MAPP gas work for the silver brazing? I've got a small oxyacetylene set up but looks like i'd have to get a new torch for the acetylene tank and hose.

Sorry Pablo Cruise, I'm not familiar with the tailgate issue. Do you have an example?

Yes, as does every other Pig owner. I think the material is the same as the mirror base, and the handle fails inside the gate. I can dig out a broken one and get pictures. There have to be pics of the broken handle in here...

I can try and look around then and see if I can find some pics. The soldering fix might work if the affected area is thick enough. If not, I should check into making a mold of the piece and then casting in a stronger metal. I do bronze, aluminum, and iron casting so maybe that would be another option if I could pull a good mold off of a handle. I'll check the handle on my FJ55 and see if it's the same material as the mirror bases.
