Mine do. I recall maybe reading that for some backup cameras there’s a wire you can snip to eliminate the guide lines but didn’t even look into that for my install as I find them slightly helpful and don’t have a better option, which it sure sounds like you do!

I just wrapped up installing a backup camera in my 1999 Land Cruiser and wanted to share the setup in case it helps anyone else.

When I bought the truck, it had a license plate frame camera that wasn’t working. My guess is it failed from weather exposure. Since I plan to install a rear bumper with a tire carrier in the future, I also didn’t want a camera mounted on the license plate or tailgate, as most aftermarket bumpers would block that location.

Instead, I mounted the new camera inside at the top of the rear window. This keeps it protected from the elements and out of the way of a future bumper with a tire swing out.

For wiring, I tapped power and ground from the driver’s side reverse light. I routed the video cable up front along the driver’s side floorboards to the head unit, which ended up being easier than expected.

This is the camera I used: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09FHLTVBS?tag=ihco-20

The picture quality is decent. It would probably be a bit sharper without the rear window tint, but overall I’m happy with it.

Do any of these licence plate light cameras NOT show the guide lines? I am hoping to replace mine with one that doesn't because my Kenwood HU allows me to add them and adjust them to be actually usable?
The camera I bought came with guidelines, but also an easy way to turn them off. There is a white wire that you can cut that will turn the guidelines off. This is the camera I went with: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09FHLTVBS?tag=ihco-20
