I bought a cam that was designed to replace one license plate light, using the same snap-in mounting. Still has a light on it, looks factory, no new holes.

Can your share mole details on this camera? Amazon? Enquiring minds want to know.

I have one of these as well, purchased on ebay. Try and get one with straight lines not the predictive ones.

Anyone know if these light/camera pieces are the same for the LX? It seems they are only listed on eBay as LC compatible

After running them outside for years I needed to lift mine due to running a hitch box and ended up just putting it on the top of the inside window area. This is when I put it on first but it's centered now.

Was going to move it to the hatch side right up agains t the glass but never got around to it.
Much more useful than staring at the back of the box from plate level.

Also Dont have to clean it all the time with all the dirt that gets kicked up or worry about moisture that always gets these amazon cameras.
I am considering mounting a camera on the inside of the cabin. Are you still happy with this setup? Would you do anything different? Thanks

Just got my headunit installed last night and will hopefully have time to mess with the camera install this weekend. Thinking of mounting between the license plate lights like others have done.

Sorry just saw this but sold the 100 a few years back but never had an issue with the camera there while I had it.

Good to know. I was little concerned about glare reflecting off the glass.

BUMP! Anyone recently purchase a camera? I am about to purchase one for install and would like some recommendations.

I purchased a wireless camera with a similar mount to above from Amazon. It’s angle was far too low. I ended up 3D printing a new mount to make it useful.

Hi everyone, I'm in Melbourne Australia and all of your posts seem to be from people in the USA.
I have read through all of this and my issue is I have a 1992 wagon with barn doors and the rego plate is off to the left on the small door which would place the camera way off to the left.. I do not have a spare wheel carrier or anything hanging off the back of the vehicle.
Has anyone with barn doors done something about this issue?

From what I have read is you all seem to be connecting it to a stereo with reverse camera capabilities, where I am just running the vision to the screen that came with the reverse camera that I purchased on eBay ... So where have others located the screen, and is there any benefit from having the camera NOT on the bumper bar/towbar assy as in up higher like in the back window area?

I would appreciate your help, Thanks. Tim

How about your screens people? I am trying to do this but of course my 2003 nav screen is not compatible with any back up camera I have found. One I have tried clips on to the rear view and had to send that back. It sucked. Can anyone show me the other end of these camera set ups please

Thread resurrection!!
Just added a backup camera to our new-to-us 1999 JDM UZJ100.

Installed this camera:
aSATAH 12 LED Car Rear View... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07MWDQYV4?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

And this monitor:
Backup Camera Monitor Only - 5... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B019GQLNJU?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

So a whopping $50 or so in parts.

Tapped into the left backup light power and ground, cutting off a little insulation, poking new wire through, then twisting and soldering.

Ran that up to the top rear and then used a coat-hanger to fish it and the RCA cable for the monitor through to the tailgate.

For the monitor, I ran the RCA down the right side of the cargo compartment then forward along the trim to the driver’s (RHD car) footwell and up to the camera. For power I traced the power lines for the Japanese toll thing (Japanese ezpass—japanezpass, if you’ll pardon the expression) and removed it and commandeered its ground and switched 12V connections.

Works great and is a total game changer—we couldn’t for the life of us tell how far we were from other cars…our ‘04 has a backup camera, and we always took it for granted…

Adding a pic of the camera itself…duh.

Didn’t clip into the hole but comes with double-sided adhesive foam which does the job. And pretty impressive for $20 or so.
