Well, I have an opportunity to buy these two 1966 Fj-45 lv's for almost nothing. The pics tell the story of both. One has extensive front-end damage, and the other is parted out minus the frame and misc body parts.
I have a 1973 Fj-40 that could donate front-end parts if they swap over and a 2F from a 1985 FJ-60.
How much of the front end will swap out with my 40? Anything unique to 45's other than the body/frame?
Sorry for the dumb questions, but these seem to be to good to pass up, but will require a ton of work.

Ofcourse it depends on how much, but to answer your quest. Yes many of the parts will swap over easily with little or no change. Def the engine w dif mounts easy to get. All axles etc. Where is this trk located? Does it have a sunroof by chance? I talked to a gut once with a wrecked 45 that looked like this one. Good luck. Sorry for criptic reply, but I am on a backberry.

Buy em. Least it'll save them from the crusher!

If it's next to nothing in price and you have a place to put them I say buy them. He's obviously not going to do anything with them and if you're any kind of crusier nut you will be busy all summer getting them together:)

All summer ha!!! took me a few all summers :) the front ends are the same bib/fenders/aprons but the cowls are very different the lv's did not have kick vents and you would need to graft the firewall from the parted out one onto the other body. (thats only if the front end damage goes back that far) I disassembled lv took up most of my 2 car garage and a chunk of my basement. I can't think how much space 2 would take make sure you have enough room for them to expand.

are you planning to restore them into one?

I have an 87 2f (from an fj60) in my lv great engine for the lv I documented all the engine mounts and such you will need for this engien swapp in the begining pages of my lv build thread.

good luck Jason

Thanks guys. To be completely honest, the guy that owns the 45's called me and just wants them off his property. I'll pay him for them, but he really doesn't want anything.
Good to know that parts swap over. I've put together a few 40's , but not 45's. I will be parting one into the other, and extra parts will go on mud. I'm going to look at them tomorrow, so I'll post updates then,.

You've got it bad, bud. Give my old '60 a pat for me.

I know, I know! What's a guy to do? Now, I have people offering me these things.;) Your 60's undercarriage is getting prepped for undercarriage paint. Looking better all the time.

Man i wish you wish you were closer could be a nice project :wrench: You could always part them out to help keep others alive  Again Nice Find

isn't the gray one the one that the guy wanted like 8k for after he wrecked it? was for sale about a year ago?

Yes it is. The owner screwed a bunch of people over here, and skipped the state. It has two electric sunroofs, lincoln towncar seats, A 2F/ fourspeed out of a FJ-60, and a TON of wiring for lights. I'll post pics of both of them tonight.
I also acquired a set of OME springs, three extra axles, 4 FSM's, and a ton of lv and 40 parts.

I'm stoked!:)

PICS!

Alright, ya'all wanted pics, so pics you will get.

Just so you know, I probably will be building the green 45 into a runner and the gray one will be parted out into my other 40's and the 45. I still have to go through all the parts, and will probably post pics with questions in a future build thread.
The gray 45 has some serious character, just check out the lincoln seats and two sunroofs. Crazy. Zillions of lights and switches. Before I start taking it apart, I'll see how much of it works.
I lied about the drivetrain in an earlier post, it has a full drivetrain from a 1979 Fj-40. It had a PTO, but it was stolen at some piont. Cool rigs, lot's of work to do. I hope to have it done by the time my daughter is 14 (she is 1 month old now;)) That's it for now, here's some pics.
