Hey Guys,
I was doing some alternator work yesterday, and forgot to disconnect my neg cable from battery first. While i wa pulling off the nut on the hot lead to my alternator i shorted the wrench on my timing cover. Big spark, :whoops:then i disconnected the batt.

I put everything back together, and :doh: -- no juice

I checked the normal places i think;
The fuse block under-hood and under dash and can't find any blown fuses.

I know the main fuse will often pop if you short the battery, but this was actually the alternator post that i shorted.

Any suggestions on what to look for?

It should be the main fuse in the block behind the battery, I believe it's 80A. Or like Wristy says it may also be the fusible link, which is a black wire that comes right off the + battery connector.

I hope you didn't also fry the diodes in the rectifier inside the alternator.

I installed a new volt meter on my 87 a while back ,and on a ride i bottomed out really hard causing every thing to shut off no power to anything! ended up being the wire i hook to the alt. shorted against the block. killed the main fuse 80 amp. thats your problem almost sure of it!:cheers:
