Rule #1: Be patient. There is always someone that needs to sell for whatever reason.

Rule #2: Don’t hesitate. When you see one that fits your criteria, pull the trigger. Don’t be the guy that says “Damnit! I was going to buy this 80 and it was such a good deal but I wanted to sleep on it...”

No doubt, wise advice! I plan on jumping when we find the right one for sure. I know my budget and have plenty flexibility built into my budget that I won’t have to hesitate and wonder “what if”.

I was hesitant on the 1995 model year due to the unknown of when I’m actually going to leave Japan so I think I will settle for 1994 and older just in case. As far as patience goes, I have ZERO. I’m doing my best and killing time by trying to sort out baselines, modifications, planning trips etc.

I paid 12k Canadian for my 1995 from Japan, and it has a nearly flawless exterior, factory lockers and only 116km on it. That exterior looks rough to me, but I guess everybody has different definition of rough.

Start browsing the auctions, especially if you'll be able to attend them yourself. Some good finds in there.

That’s like $48 American, right?!

Can you bring me a 240z with a Supra engine please?

Forget the 240, up in Canada we are allowed to have R34s already. Gotta snatch them up before the US can start buying and inflates the prices.

You’re allowed to buy them because you can only drive them 2-3 weeks a year with all of the snow!

nah man, they are AWD :flipoff2:

AWD is lame in a sports car.

Besides, if it ain’t an A80 then it isn’t a real Japanese sports car!

RHD took me a few minutes to get comfortable, but I don't pass much with it.

Passed on #2 today. This one appeared much nicer on the exterior but I can't tell if thats a new paint job...I'm guessing it is but I'm not sure. It was disconcerting for me to see him throw the old wheels/tires in the back like that...makes me wonder if he cares for the inside at all. Also, those gaudy and stupid tweeter placements with the door speakers really turned me off. Deal breaker? no, but I don't like it, seems cheaply done and makes me take pause. The cluster looks really clean, only 143K kms. The engine bay looks clean and the engine ran strong. No rust anywhere either. It doesn't have the rear tire carrier which I really want. I know I can add one in the future if I wanted with an aftermarket bumper but I don't want to have to do that until I want to do it. Deal breaker? Nah, but if I can have it I will.

Overall nice truck but it was too young for my comfort at 10/1995. I told the guy who is helping me to keep it 4/1995 and older at most.

What are your thoughts on the truck?

The white paint always looks the best. It was the only color that didn't fade. That could be the original paint.

Yeah true. Not sure if it's my eyes or the pics playing tricks but I thought the colors of the hood and front bumper look slightly off when compared to the rest of the vehicle. I don't really care for white vehicles but this is undeniably sharp.

Where did you want him to put the wheels and tires? Box them and bar code them?
