Shock boots

I've had both ways and see a lot both ways. I would ask the manufacturer how their warranty wants it and go that way. Personally I don't like the boots.

I'm with Ron. Basically all the boots are going to do is increase the longevity of the shock by keeping moisture/debris off the shaft thus protecting the seal. For the price of shocks. I'll just replace them every 10 years and keep them looking good without a boot. Lol

To me it seems like the rubber boots would help to protect the shock shafts from getting nicks and scratches from the rocks and gravel that gets thrown up but at the same time they will hold the mud and sand scratching the shaft. Either way the shock fails prematurely from seal failure.

The old school steel collars they use on the OE shocks are probably best at protecting the shafts but they look like ass.

So like the others I’m just going with what looks good and replace as necessary.
