I want to try my hand at sewing a few items, like a trail cover, new bikini top to fit my Metaltech family cage, maybe even re-upholster the seats in the FJ40.
I figured using my wife's machine was a recipe for disaster so I hit the yard sales this weekend.
Here is what I found;
The best part is when I told the lady what I was doing she GAVE me the machine FREE. I guess she thought it was cool that a guy would try to do his own sewing.
I haven't confirmed it yet but according to the interwebs this machine was made in the Toyota Nagoya factory for the Morse International Company. It has a reputation as being indestructible, mine was purchased new in 1965 and runs like it just came off the production line. It weighs about as much as a 2F head, no plastic parts to speak of, all cast steel. According to what I've read so far this machine will handle heavy canvas and vinyl with ease.
