Hi all!

Can anyone help me to understand what these sensors are?

In the left side of my H55 transmission, up near where the shifter enters the trans, there's a plug.

Also, near the front output shaft of the transfer case, there's another. (Also, which t-case is in a 1996 Colombian FZJ73)

Everything seems to be working, but these don't make any sense to me.

Thanks in advance!

Not super familiar with the H55, but the plug on the transmission will be your reverse light switch, and the one on the transfer case will be the 4wd indicator switch.

Thanks AHD! The reverse light works for sure, but I'll have to double check on the 4wd indicator (in the dash presumably). This is my first t-case where I lift the shift lever to go from high to low gears.

My first FJ70 had the dash button (which I didn't like having to trust an electronic solenoid), and most others I've seen have an 'L-shaped' shift pattern.

Always something new for me to learn!

Please post a frame number.

I am unaware of any factory 1FZ engines with an H55 behind it. They always have a H150/151.

This should help you.....

OGB,

You're very likely right, and that'd be great info for me!

I've attached my model/frame number.

Where would I verify the exact trans/transfer case models for my FJZ?

Thanks again!

Great diagram.. can anyone tell me why there's two sensors related to Hi/Low?

Yeah, it's a little strange the way it's setup. One is to indicate if the transfer is in the Hi or Low position. The 2nd one indicates if the transfer is in neutral position (so neither Hi or Low).
I guess because the sensors are just a fairly simple 2 position switch. But Toyota wanted to measure 3 possible positions for the transfer selection.

Interesting, thanks!

I just wish they also had a neutral safety switch for the transmission. I'd like to have a remote-start, but not without a NSS!
