i have looked everywhere and can not find the range (ohms) for sending unit. I have been cleaning/restoring mine and it works great on meter. 16.9 ohms FULL and 125 Empty. Just do not know what it should be. Does anyone have that info? THANKS

so are you sayin that a 70 series sender with a 10 and a 4 ohm resistor in series with the sender to gauge wire would return valid FJ60 readings?

the sender varistor is made from nichrome wire of- dammit, I can't recall the gauge, but there are threads here on mud documenting such- 80s chat section, believe it or not. I need to rewind mine...

or maybe you can put your POT in there instead...

Yes it looks like if 14 ohms was wired inline with the 70 series sender, the 60 gauge would get a signal that was within spec.
