Hey Guys,

Just thought I would put the word out.
I finally got around to listing my BJ74.
I love it to death, but have been thinking about downsizing for a while.
I could hardly bring myself to list it.

Anyways, its Stone's old truck.
5speed. Locked, loaded and ready to go.
Any questions please ask.

Its got a few more extras now.

I will probably go back to a suzuki for a bit, and start saving up.
Once I can afford my next cruiser in cash I will start looking.
Still dreaming of troopies. :)

Cheers,
N.

It took me till I was 27 to get my first 'Cruiser!! You've already had three!!

Maybe time for an ok condition 60 series....... Like going back. But much cheaper for the wallet.

I like the JDMs. But my ole 60 is a nice vehicle to play with.

Yeah, it many ways I miss the old 60.
By comparison, it was lower to the ground. need some tlc than any JDM, and was much slower. But it was fun too.
I have enjoyed all 3 cruisers.
But you know what: I got the most waves in the 60. (74 second, and 80 third).

You pass a 60 in a 60 and both parties are waving like nuts. :)
The 74 its close, most cruiser people will wave.
In the 80 half the people ignore you. (I also find that most JDM owners don't wave back).
Guess they don't know what they got, and how we stick together. Oh well.

I really like cruiser_guy's BJ60. He is putting it on 33x10.5s which is pretty much perfect, for DD and offroad. If I ever got another 60, it would end up almost identical (except for electric winch over PTO).

Right now I am looking at a little suzuki truck. Its an LJ81.
Super small. but tones of fun. I used to have a LJ80.
This one needs front end work (grinding, I think its a birf going).
It also smokes at start up (guessing valve seals). But its $1500 and it would be fun.
Its a great deal and almost rust free. Not the most pratical for space. But its cheap to drive, insure and on parts. And will work great for the next few years. When I go to sell I won't loose a cent (probably make, but I don't care about that to much), i am getting it cause its fun and cheap.

Cheers,
N.

That is so true! I'm noticing most JDM owners I've seen are city dwellers, and don't go offroad much.... more of a grocery shopper and a vehicle to get from point a-b. JDM's have become too trendy, especially if you go down to Kits or Downtown.

For cruiser_guy, if I could recommend a tires size it is 16 inch. I have 235/85R16's.... really good size on 60. Plus it is the most common commercial tire size. You get the toughest tires in this size. Usually load range E.

Great on a cruiser like yours, where you do lots of long distance and bad roads.

That's why I run them. For logging roads and lots shale etc. 10 ply tires.

I bought Toyota 16 inch steel wheels for 80 bucks each. But since your buying 16 you have to do the spare too. So its 5 tires and rims.

Maybe you could find some sweet used 16 inch rims in Central America..?

I'm looking, I was actually going to try for 33x9.5x15 but those don't seem to be available in Central America so I'll watch for 16" rims.

16 inch is the way to go IMOP for strong tires.

I don't like mud tires or any of the soft type tires.

A 235/85/R16 measures arouns 32.7 and is 9.5 inches wide. Which is a good width on a 60.

In fact where I work we run this size on all of our suburbans.

I like the 265/75/R16 AT that I have, another great tire and one that is also very common.

You get the best of both worlds I think as you get 32.8 inches, 10.5 inces wide on a 16 ince rim. You get good rim support as well as good tire support with a great height.

Nick, to bad you have to sell your rig, that sure looks to be a nice JDM.

I also find the 60 owners to be the most friendly, maybe because they are the most common, or maybe because they are the best known cruser in Canada. don't konw what the "brotherhood" is like in the US, but even stockers give a wave just like bikers do. I love it.

Still up for sale. A few people have been interested, but apparently nothing to serious yet.

Just wanted to let you guys know. I have found my next vehicle (a suzuki), and my insurance comes up June 26th. My goal is to not re insure.

So if anyone is interested or has any questions, feel free to give me a shout.
I will consider all offers.

Cheers,
Nick

call Stone and see if he wants to buy it back??? He might be missing his truck.....

I know he wants it back, and I know he misses it. I will miss it too.
In many ways my favorite cruiser yet. But as Stone said, its just not in the cards right now for him. I can understand and respect that.

This truck is the perfect base for you!

Part your BJ70, do a dash swap if you don't like RHD...or sell your 70 after you take everything out you want, and wheel the 74...

gb

I thought the same thing for him too.
The parts value of his rig is quite a bit. (3B & H55 and 4.56 gears with arb lockers).
It would be an easy (fairly cheap) and nice upgrade for him. He could also bolt his ARB right on.

He just didn't have a place to part it.
I am trying to save lots of money right now. But if was building a cruiser up (say a FJ60) I would totally of done a trade with him, and done the swap. His would be a great rig to do a swap and for parts.

Maybe someone on the board will want his rig? Do a big swap-a-ro.

Cheers,
N.

I don't know what you guys are talking about.... it seems like the majority of 60 series owners I see don't wave back. When I drove a 40 there was no way to drive past another one without getting a wave.

As for tires, I find my 12.5 wide ATs a bit grippy on heavily rutted pavement. I might go for 10.5 wide on the next set of street tires I get. But in terms of looks, I think you can't beat 12.5".... verry nice.

Well, good news!
My room mate is going to Chilliwack on Saturday, (moving his girlfriend up here).

He was just going to take a truck, no trailer.
But he could probably trailer my rig down for $250.
So if your interested, he could bring it down.

The deal would have to be made before hand.
He can't negotiate for me, but he can deliver it.

It would have to be picked up in Chilliwack on Saturday late afternoon, early evening. Payment would have to be arranged before hand, and some sort of deposit made.

Cheers,
Nick
