See update in post number 23. I finally decided to dive into these now that Downey is not making them any more. I went ahead and changed a couple of things based on my own experience running them.
One, the actual u-bolt holes on the top side of the plate are slightly larger, which helps accomodate some of the heavy-duty replacement bolts sold by companies like Rancho. The center pin bolt is also slightly larger. This was to take care of an intermittent problem with some replacement leaf spring center pin nuts.
Two, the holes in the bottom plate are also slightly larger, which accomdates getting some [note I am saying some, not ALL] impact sockets used for installing the larger nylocs used on some replacement U-bolts. There has never been an issue when reinstalling stock or OE spec u-bolts.
Three, the gusset between the top and bottom plates is integrated in the top plate. This not only streamlines the production for me, but gets a better 'hold' for the gusset on the top plate than some of the tack-welded ones I've seen. I have never seen a gusset fail, but I decided this change was for the better regardless.
Plates without shock mounts are currently in stock and ready to ship for $69 a pair. Plates with shock pins will be available in about a week and will run $84 a pair BUT.........if you pre-order and make payment arrangements by next Friday [April 2nd] I will offer those for $79.00 a pair.
Flat rate USPS ship for $15. Add $3 for paypal.
Thanks for looking.
