Previous owner of my 2015 LC left it in pretty good shape, but one of the things that got messed up was the backs of the second row seats. We're not talking scuffs here. Gouges crushes and rips.

I'm thinking of replacing or having them recovered. They are on super solid, and the online parts diagrams don't help me determine how they're attached and how they come off. Anybody know how to get them off? Info, pics, or shot of a detailed diagram would be greatly appreciated. Want to know what I'm jumping in to before I make the problem worse. Thanks.

Bumping this up. Hopefully someone has removed the second row seat backs and can tell me how they're attached.

pull the TOP (one clip on each side), and slide UP.

If anyone is curious, here's a thread that has the procedure and a glimpse of the top hooks. Took some wrestling to unhook but I got there without mangling the hook too bad.

Now to decide whether to recover the backs or get replacements.

canvasback makes a cover that protects against scrapes, kids kicking the seats, etc. As far as cargo banging into the seatbacks, I think the best thing to do is to fold the seats down.

Update: I finally got around to replacing the seatbacks today. Those top clips are a bitch to detach!!! I ended up with a headlamp so I could see inside at what I was doing. Still managed to break one of the clips off and will have to try glueing the plastic clip back in place. A real pita. The new ones went on very easily. I'm hoping I can fix that clip and stick to my original plan to het them recovered and keep as a spare.

So anybody know what glue to use on Toyota plastic?

Needs to be vibration resistant. I would do something like JB Weld. They have one to fix bumper cracks. I had a pretty good success with it. You can build additional support structure with it around the bonding area.
