I have a (spare) Cobra CB with a cigarette lighter plug in that you can borrow for the trip, which would allow you time to research and only spend money once on a CB. I typically just wedge it between the passenger seat and center console so it doesn’t bounce all over the vehicle. Never had trouble with it running hot on me . me.

me.
Hey folks,

Being new to this kind of outing, is there anything I need to be sure I have for this trip? I know everyone will probably say I need a CB radio, is this for sure necessary before I go out and get one? Anyone have any recommended systems without spending a ton, since it's short notice?

Oh, and I'm planning on heading up Thursday morning.

Thanks,

Todd

ATTENTION: It looks like we will have a food trailer set up on site doing breakfast and lunch for Friday and Saturday. Maybe Thursday lunch and Sunday breakfast as well. More to follow. Just wanted to clue y'all in so you won't pack a bunch of food if you chose to go that route. Prices are reasonable if not cheap!

That would be totally awesome! I really hate to rush into something and get it wrong.

not necessary but handy
as far as rec go to each his own but for ease of mount & space considerations hard to beat COBRA 75WXST
Amazon for under $90.

I will second Paul's sentiments on the COBRA 75WXST. This is the all-in-one unit in the handset. I bought one for the 40 and bought a second "brain unit" (I don't know what they call the unit the handheld plugs into but you can buy them separate for $25 or so) and put it in the tow rig. Now I can just swap the handset to the tow rig while towing and then to the 40 when I hit the trails.

That'll be an awesome option for those that don't want to grocery shop for anything other than beer :D

I'm going order one now maybe that'll solve my CB Blues :frown: 3 CB's and 4 antenna's in 7 years and none of them worked worth a damn usually I just ask Holden to give the hand signals out the sunroof

This set-up has served me well so far. It's just too convenient. I am going to re-install the "brain" in the F250 now as I took out all the accessories when I was planning to get rid of it.

Speaking of which, burned a tank driving it for work the last couple of days and was getting around 18 - 19 mpg on average. Not bad for getting on it from time to time to purge all the air from the system. She is running like a top at the moment. Bringing the trailer home tomorrow to get it ready. This will be the first true test for the F250. :D

Sounds like a good plan I ordered the unit and a second brain for both rigs my Dad had one I pulled out of his Tundra the funny thing is I'd have it now and just need the second brain had I not left it outside when we bolted for GSMTR :(
Glad to hear the F250 is where it should be and that's some pretty good mileage considering that's a 1/2 ton gassers best HWY mileage unloaded unless your ecoboosting :D hope the trailer test goes well.

CLC would like to encourage any guitar players to bring their acoustic guitars! We will have some players there and the impromptu jam sessions that seem to "just happen" at these events can be some of the best memories of the event in my opinion! So if you have em and can play a little, throw it in the truck! See y'all there!!
