I have been asking questions and researching on here for awhile now. It is time to start my build thread. I picked up a 94 lc with 170000 miles on it about a month ago. It has very little rust and factory lockers. Right now I am getting general maintenance done and then plan on monstalining the whole vehicle. I am still deciding on the color but requested several samples.

So far I have changed the diffs and transfer case fluids. I still need to do the trans. I was planning on doing the power steering but the fluid looks new. It looks like there was a power steering leak but was fixed and the po never cleaned it up. I have put new hood struts in and a double din navigation head unit. I was getting a nasty musty smell and found out I was getting water on the front passenger floor. I cleaned out the sunroof drain and it seems to fix the problem.

This weekend I have been working on a new valve cover gasket, pcv grommet, spark plus, spark plug tube seals, plugs, distributor cap and rotor. I did order a new belt set as well.

The front bumper is currently off awaiting a aoe front bumper.

I will post pictures and updates as I go. I would like to take the 80 on some trails before I decide on what direction to take. As of right now I'm looking to do a ~5" lift and 35s.

Valve cover is off, cleaned and repainted (only one coat so far). Spark plug tube seals, pcv and grommet are off. I noticed the back bolts on the valve cover were lose which was probably the cause of the leak. I started cleaning all the gunk off. Removed the battery. I repainted the battery clamp with plastidip. Cleaned the throttle body. I put a new dissipator cap and rotor on. I've never worked on a distributor before so I hope I did everything right. I marked where the rotor was and replaced it with the new one. I put all new toyota genuine spark plugs in. I still have to do the back one left but will get to it sometime this week.

Does anyone have the tq specs on the valve cover? I cannot find them and don't see them in the fsm.

I don't think its critical so just tighten it but don't kill it. But if you're anal about it then its prob listed in the parts diagram in the fsm.

I was able to get the valve cover back on last night. The back two bolts are a real pain. Plugs are in and hooked back up. I stared to hook the throttle body back up but decided to call it a night. I noticed a crack in the pcv hose and the breather hose. I had really though idling. I am not sure if that was the cause of it or not. I'll order replacements today. I have pictures and will try to upload them after work.

I received my drive belts from Beno yesterday. I placed a second order for radiator hoses, intake filter, water pump, and thermostat. I'll install the phh work around and flush the cooling system at the same time. I sound also like to clean the fuel system.

Cracks in those hoses are normal after a while and will cause a ruff idol. I used Duct tape at first to try to fix mine and eventually purchased a new one.

Bought the 80 with a little bit of body damage.

Still needs a little work but much better! The fender is realigned and the new parking light fits. There is still a dent in the fender right where it meets the bottom of the parking light. I may just leave it. The AOE front bumper looks like it will cover the dent.

The batter tray is still wet in this picture. This picture is of the first coat.
