I made an offer yesterday, he took it. Unless someone offers him more than I did. Will see if I can pick it up today.
This is the same one he had on Craigslist for $1000 a few months ago. I'm not sure if the frame is salvagable, but will see what I can do with it.

Ed, appreciate the info. I could not get hold of the fella today to pick it up, so hopefully with the snow coming in tomorrow, I can get out there by Saturday morning.
I saw a Vortec with 4L60E and full harness for sale ....... hhmmmm, should fit ok.

Brian, Ed is right, I have 2 55's.. The frames are both good so if you need one we can work something out.. cause I need to get it out of my yard sometime this spring.
Alex, I will hopefully get it all checked out in the next few weeks, and have an idea of what I can do with it and what it will need. I will for sure keep in touch.
I will post pics once it clears up and I get it cleaned up.

Well, the fella forgot to mention that it had been on it's side before. The A-pillar is pushed in on driver's side, mice/rats have a nest in it, and so on and so on..... The frame is in excellent condition, if it is not twisted. The body is rusted to heck, and I expected that, but I have decided to pass on this. If you are in the market for a FJ55 that will need more work than I want to put in, it is still available.

So, does "usual dents" include those from being on its side? Sounds like a good case of buyer beware.
When I read that, it sounded like a different truck. The guy runs the auction shop where this thing is parked. He can sell anything....
He is more honest about the dash and interior now, but the body.... nope. Probably some unique parts for the 55 group to salvage, but nothing mechanical I would want.
