My friend needs a new motor in his 91 EXTCAB 4x4.....his 3.0 threw the timing belt at 188,000 and when we put a new timing set on it it pops through the intake and flunks a compression test, and runs like SHEET.......

Then another friend mentions this motor a 94? 3VZ-E that only had 40k on it when it was pulled 6 YEARS AGO,wrapped in a tarp, and left on a boat trailer under a tree........

here it is once i got it home....turns out it is the whole driveline......motor,harness,alt,starter,ps pump,a/c comp, transmission, transfer case and front driveshaft!!!! best of all when he seen the condition..(the tarp disintegrated and the motor was covered in leaves)...he offered it for "scrap price" ...$20!!!! of course i couldnt let it go by even if its junk

heres the problem.....motor wont turn over by hand, even with a breaker bar.......gonna try some oil in the plug holes tomorrow......any ideas?...should i even bother? the plan was to swap the new timing set onto this motor and bring this thing back to life....before his wife wins and it gets junked

well at least a V6 is negative interference...

I'd remove the heads and scope out the cylinder walls... B/c I'd put head gaskets on it anyway.

You might get lucky and the rings didn't corrode into the walls.

It might need anything from a hone and some new rings, to a crank kit....

May the force be with you.

Pour a few tablespoons of ATF into each plug hole, let it soak for a few days, then see if you can turn it over. If not, then ya gotta start pulling the heads.

Coca-cola will also unstick rings, in a last resort.

ATF or oil or PB Blaster????

Also decided that if i gotta pull the heads i might put these heads on the 91 motor and leave the bottom end in place.....hmmm?

also since the starter is still there im gonna hook a battery up to it and try to bump it that way

I actually used marvel mystery oil. Pulled the plugs, poured some in (more than a few table spoons), replaced the plugs, and waited a week. Then I pulled the plugs, and using a long prybar, got my F engine unstuck. I proceeded to turn it over by hand for almost an hour. Put plugs back in, pour some gas down the carb, and turned the key...started right up after sitting in a barn for a decade

That engine was probably put there for a reason. Maybe it was bad to begin with. I wouldn't use penetrating oil. It's a solvent and too thin to protect the cylinder walls should things break loose. The ATF is a good idea, I would use Marvel Mystery oil, it's original purpose was to be an "upper cylinder lubricant". Good luck. I'll get hate mail for this, but if both engines are bad, put a 4.3 chevy in there, it's cheaper.
