Sanity Check - 1978 Sky Blue 854 paint code

Here's what I found for the bezel in a PPG book - the bezel is behind the page and there is an oval cutout in the paint sample to aid in the matching.

The C9226 is very close.

I'm not sure if the paint shop messed up or the book can't be trusted - but the C9226 is not a good match to the bezel. Looks very tan without any darker tones. We will be using it as a starting point and adding color to match by eye.

Finally have the truck home. There are a few roof/door panels still at the painter for some touch-ups and buffing. The color match came out really nice - I did NOT paint the dash and the new/old blended very well. The bezel required hand mixing but came out nice as well.

looks good. Same truck, same color but I went with frame off. It might never get paid for!
How much did the work cost?

Mine is Aqualu tub, so I knew it might not be factory color. Clearly not that factory color.

I guess my next option is to find a place that can do a color scan.

Your paint job looks great, and really sets off your FJ.

Do NOT use AutomotiveTouchUp.com for a match!!!! It's not even close and after finally getting hold of somebody there they claim there is no warranty or guarantee of match regardless of what their website and advertising indicate.

Hi did any of you use tinted bed liner under the fenders? Black on the frame, body and tub tinted underside and half way up the cargo and flooring? Thats what we are doing but want it "Stock" yet with the lizard skin on the flooring. prolly even the transmission area and fuel tank.,

I just found this - the actual formula was under the can's label. I guess this is a trick paint shops do.
