Ok, so heading West on Temple Mountain Rd. go straight pass the Goblin Valley Park Entrance (Goblin Valley Rd. on the Left). Continue on Temple Mountain Rd until you get to a Y in the road. Take the left turn onto Co Rd. 1016. Continue until you see the Crack Canyon BLM sign on your left.

Continue down this 4x4 trail until you get to the mouth of the Canyon. The area immediately in front of the trail-head is flat with lots of trees and open space to make camp. You could fit a large group in there comfortably with room to spread out.

This link has the Crack Canyon Campsite flagged.

I'm in for sure. The wife and I can leave Glenwood at 3:30 on Friday, so we'll have to catch up. Or, camp at Rabbit Valley on Friday and then meet up on Saturday morning. I still need to pay dues for the club. I don't have a printer, if someone can bring the paperwork I need to sign, I'll bring the money.

Aric I can print out copies for both of us and bring them down. Are there going to be any member in attendance that we can hand our dues and forms off to? Seems like this is shaping up to be a newbies run :D

I am up for Crack Canyon trailhead for our campsite. The pictures of the canyon are awesome, looking forward to the hike in the canyon.

Posted up on Expedition Utah about our trip and if anyone could give us pointers. Also offered for anyone to join our little adventure.

On the way home check out Black Dragon Canyon! It travels the right direction and is incredible! I might come Saturday night if you stay at Lone Warrior. On the way home check out the White Sands Missile Site.

Also add Galen to the list. He had no Internet.

This is shaping up to be an epic weekend, I can't wait! Potluck/BYOB sounds good to me. If you have anything specific you want me to bring let me know.

:bounce::clap::bounce2:

Ryan,

Would you mind if we made Lone Warrior our base camp for the Weekend?? We can go south on Saturday then north on Sunday? We can meet at camp on Friday night, I should be in camp around 6 - 7pm. I'll have the fire going with a cold beer waiting for you guys!!:D Will be listening to Ch. 4 on the CB.

EVERYONE,

Please post up what you plan on bringing for the potluck, also who doesn't have extra fuel cans? Everyone should top off their tanks in Green River before they:steer: head into Lone Warrior campsite.

I don't mind in the least bit, just throwing out a suggestion if you were looking for a spot near goblin valley. That Crack Canyon hike is definitely worth checking out sometime if you find yourself back in that area. I was thinking about picking up a radio prior to the trip. I was looking at the Midland 75-822 convertible unit and doing the Bandi mount and external antenna for use in the truck. Anyone used this particular radio or have suggestions? I am looking for a convertible type radio I can use as a handheld or attached to a fixed antenna in the truck.

Matt,

Base camping at Lone Warrior works for me, I should be able to get there around 7 or 8 friday night. Heading south on sat. and north/east on sun. would be great. What do you need us to bring for the potluck? I could make a Chili, beef stew or a few side dishes?

I will have an extra 10gal fuel with me, suggest everyone have at least extra 5gal. for this trip. Will bring a bundle of wood also, just have to figure where to put it.

Does anyone want to meet at the coffee shop in Green River on Saturday morning to fuel up, grab a coffee and hit the road? :steer: I would bring an extra fuel can with you for this trip or share with someone. I will be bringing a 4gal RotoPax with me, possibly 2 (Hugh)? There are campgrounds (Goblin Valley I believe) with toilets and showers in the Swell we could end our day here for Saturday night and do a group dinner instead of breakfast. I am leaning towards a dinner, great time to relax and B.S. I will look into group campsite and reserve one if everyone likes the idea.

Matt, I'm out of town but your cans are in...

Im in! Bringing the better half, Angie and our son Hayden(are we there yet?). We plan on leaving early Friday afternoon. I'll be pulling an off road trailer behind the LX450. I should have plenty of room for firewood so if some are getting tight on space I can bring extra.
I make a killer cheesecake. Could bring for the pot luck along with whatever else is recomended. Also will be bringing some suds from Bonfire.
Looking forward to a great weekend. Peace, Glenn

FYI. A modern truck filled in GR will be fine on fuel for the entire weekend. It's the 40s that need to think about extra fuel. At most you will cover 200 miles round trip from GR.

Excellent job organizing this one guys! It will be a great time.

Matt,

3:30PM is good for me but I will have to see if Mary can take off early that day. I will know tomorrow.

I can bring a large Cobb salad since it seems we are in need of greens if that works for everyone. I will also bring some potatoes in foil to toss in the coals as I love a baked potato with my steak, I'll bring all the fixin's to load them up and counterbalance the nutritional value of course.

I'll go dig through the garage, I did have a big grilling grate for over the fire but I haven't used it in a long time. I do have a little grilling basket thing but you could only fit about 4 good sized steaks in it at a time. I'll bring that too for back up and other grilling items.

This trip is going to be awesome, I can't wait!

If I get my other chores done I may continue working on my roof basket, if I get that done I can load it up with firewood too.

Thanks Ryan!!

Salad and Potatoes sound great! I'm a meat and potatoes guy too. Let me know if you find the grilling grate, I my have one made to fit over my spare tire.
