I’m planning to sell my 1997 LX450 (270,000 miles) in January and I’m working through items to make sure I can maximize the value of the sale. I plan to list it on bring-a-trailer. The engine was rebuilt, supercharged, full drivetrain rebuilt, lockers, regeared, repainted well-upgraded electronics/solar/dual battery, even the sector 105 steering box, gullwings, and Rosen visors. I’ve done it all to this truck, partly because it’s my daily and partly because I love it.

Here’s my build sheet. Here’s some photos

I’m having the steering wheel wrapped, have time scheduled with Slee to do a full inspection and address any items, fixing a couple miscellaneous things (trim on rear liftgate needs clips, driver’s side passenger door card is damaged) and cleaning it.

I’m curious what people think about selling it with or without the GFC tent (which has the wired in S2 floods, solar panel on it). Do you think that would be a benefit? Or take it off and note that it has wiring and a victron controller ready for the new buyers use. Similar question from the trekboxx system. Is it better to remove that and sell it separately or would it add value to the sale? I’m still using the 10-year old pioneer head unit. Would you upgrade that to a modern unit?

Any other advice from people that have sold theirs in prepping for the sale would be appreciated.

Thanks for the help

I'm confused. Why are selling? From the photos you've got access to beautiful areas to camp and visit.

Personally i would remove the camping equipment and either use it on the 200 series or sell it. If you bundle everything chances are you will get a lower combined price.
I am interested in your BAT experience. I may have something to list there myself come January.

When I sold my Taco and GFC I sold them separate. I got more from essentially demoding the truck and selling the mods separate.

This is my instinct but I had a conversation with a reputable outfitter last week that was talking up the fully built out, ready to go bidders and suggesting packaging it all.

Thanks Joe. I definitely lean that way on the GFC. Do you think something like the trekboxx system would benefit from the same?

Hard to say, it’s not universal per se so you’ll likely get more than if you packaged it but may also be stuck with it until the right buyer comes along.

A few reasons but mainly this has been my daily for ten years and I'm ready for something a bit more modern. I plan to pick up a 200 and continue to camp ;)
I fully understand that. I have a 2013 GTI, a 2006 Tundra double cab, and the Cruiser. The GTI is my DD but I would definitely sell it first. The Tundra is valuable with the family and I'm considering replacing both the GTI and Tundra with either a 2021 or 2025+ Tundra.

The Cruiser has become a family heirloom and won't get sold.

Man, the family heirloom things rings true. I hate to sell it but it's time. I know I'm going to miss her a ton.

Beautiful rig!

Same. My boys will get my rigs.

Funny, tonight at dinner, my 17 and 20-year-olds were arguing over who gets the 80 series. I told him I would be buried in it…
