I think anyone out there that ahs driven llllooonnnngggg distances will agree with me here.
You never measure by time but rather tank fulls. Only stop to get gas.
So the real question here is, is it alright to drive an 80 at high speeds until you run out of gas?
At which point you will stop, refuel, everything will cool down and have a breather.
I have driven 300 miles at 80-85 mph many times and my 96 seems to like it.
Always runs smoother afterwards. I think it cleans the injectors. Redline with your redbull.
I would not do it on old tires.

It is MPH here in the UK ya know, think we invented it.... LOL but honestly my 96 4.5 does 120+ on the clock, mind you I have new rear tyres,

Snowwolf,

Let us know what size tyres you are running .

I didn't know a 3fe could actually go 80+ mph!!! :D :D :D

Seriously though, with the 1996, cruising at 80-90mph is comfy, helped by Bilstein Shocks and low lift OME springs. The 1996 will pull over 100 with no problem. If I had to guess it tops out in the 108-110mph range stock.

They are just standard tyres and wheels, 275/70/16 but will take fzj80kidpens advice, my front tyres are on the very worn side, so will try it when I get them changed next week, perhaps the fuel here in the UK is more potent ...... LOL I know the cost of fuel here is more potent than anywhere else :-)

FYI Snowwolf - driving a full time 80 with new tires on one axle and worn axles on the other is a big no no. Lots of heat in your center diffy. Don't be running fast with that setup in ANY country.

Also, I thought you guys used KPH in England?? Mebbe I'm misremembering since I was already on the wrong side of the car, the wrong side of the street, and shifting with my left hand.

HI Idaho..... naaa still MPH here in the UK, thanks for the info on the tyres, I think I will have to get them changed, so you saying that all 4 tyres should be changed together? I have just got to take LC to have an MOT right now, hope it passes....doh

Mot

Hi... MOT is a full car roadworthyness test that all cars over 3 years old have to have every year, its very strict, my car failed do to the right hand side rear parking brake is seized, and does not opperate, I will have to have a look at what is wrong, the test is £40 and because it failed, I will have to sort out the problem and then have to have a retest which will cost me another £20

Hey guys, UPDATE. Im here in Texas with my 80 and new mustang at hand. 80 gave me no probs and i got 14 MPG which is about correct for an 80. Been going 80MPH for 3 hrs and no prblems. Truck runs excellent. Now im trying to find a place to wash my truck off since I had a little fun with the Ford guys on the trail I found out about at the dealership
