Gentleman,
Just finished a fine family vacation to Montana for fishing and Yellowstone for whitewater rafting. We truly have a beautiful country and we are so very blessed.
Along the way from Seattle, we stopped and looked at dozens of classic cars and trucks along the roadways. We logged 1700 miles in a weeks time and sighted 13 Willis Overlanders but just 3 FJ55s. The first was sitting in driveway at a home in near Gardiner Mt. Nobody was there so we respected his property and left. It looked like a mid 70s, green/white and in good shape. The next was heading south on US 191 just north of Big Sky Mt. Unfortunately we were going the opposite direction so I could only make out the late model taillights and green/white two tone. It was sweet seeing that pig cruisin the highway.
On the way to Yellowstone, my wife spotted a rather sad sight along an old roadside storage facility in Livingston, Mt. It is a 1972 FJ55 with what appears to be a recent, although unfinished SBC 350. The body is mostly rotten throughout and IMHO I'd have to say that the owner has either given up on it, abandoned it, or both. Truck is FOR SALE. Interior looks decent - headliner is intact. Pics attached.
