Rust on crankshaft

So I finally drilled out my stripped oil pump screw. I had left the crankshaft pulley off and I see some minor surface rust on my crankshaft. Do I lightly sand it? If so with what? Thanks.

Can't really see it in the photo. But near the scratches on there near the pin.

I would just wipe it off w/ brake cleaner and a rag.

rust on the crank...you must be from Arizona!
