Here's something I haven't seen before...
My '14 LX has been parked outside this winter and not driven for weeks at a time.
Yesterday I took this photo:
This is the driver's side, rear door. Note the two rust-drip spots. These spots line up with the "drain" holes on the bottom of the door. A few weeks ago I wiped off similar spots on the driver's side, front door.
Clearly something is rusting inside both doors, and dripping down. The exterior of the doors looks great - no signs of issues.
1. Has anyone seen this before?
2. Beyond removing door cards, what am I in for?
3. How is water getting inside the door in the first place? My only idea is that when I pressure wash the sides of the car, water goes under the chrome trim and inside the door through the holes which are used to secure that door trim.
4. Remedies? Fluid film the inside of the door?
