Yes I got the pelican 45 off of eBay for 171$ shipped. The latches were biggest thing I liked. I have at the time a 6 year old daughter and she couldn't open the coolers like the yeti. I should her how to open pelican once and she had no issue. So I was sold. They are heavy, my wife can't carry it but I don't mind it I uselly throw it up on my shoulder and carry it that way so I have other hand free to carry more stuff.

Just received my tan 45 quart RTIC. I have a 65 quart YETI. With exception of size difference, they are pretty much identical. I get that you probably can't patent a cooler, as it is just a insulated plastic box with handles which have been around the better part of a hundred years, but these things are so similar I wonder if it is a copyright issue. Very pleased with the RTIC.

My buddy just got me a hopper 30 for making him some sliders. Damn this thing is beefy. Its huge too. I think its too big But it was a gift and im not gonna ask him to get me a 20. BUt damn this thing is nice.

I bought one of the 65s for $139 shipped. It is pretty heavy and the rubber feet make sliding it around in the 100 a little difficult. Nice cooler nonetheless.

I'm not sure how they could consider having to redesign a large portion of their products a "win." That is quite the spin. Mad I missed out on that liquidation sale they were doing though, looking forward to see what they come up with next.

Yeti thinks it's a win for them too lol.

YETI Reaches Favorable Settlement in RTIC Coolers Lawsuits

AUSTIN, Texas, Feb. 2, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- YETI®, the leading premium cooler and drinkware brand, is pleased to announce that a binding settlement has been reached in the United States District Court lawsuits brought against RTIC Coolers and brothers John and Jim Jacobsen.

RTIC Coolers and the Jacobsens are required to make a financial payment to YETI; to cease sales of all products subject to the lawsuit – this includes hard-sided coolers, soft-sided coolers and drinkware; and to redesign all products in question.

YETI CEO Matt Reintjes stated, "We are extremely pleased with the results we have achieved. We will continue to defend our innovation and intellectual property. This is a true win."

Further details will be shared as they become available. YETI is not available for further comment on this topic at this point.

I got a RTIC 65 tan from my mother-in-law at Christmas. of course, it's winter time and I haven't put it to the test in the heat yet but from what I can tell, it is identical to my neighbor's Yeti. He walked into my garage and said "oh, you got a Yeti." I told him to look again. he said, "#@$!, that looks just like a Yeti." Keep in mind, he sells Yeti at his business.

Anyway, I think my MIL may have paid somewhere between $165 and $199. I would have never paid $400 for the yeti but I think I will love this cooler.

As for "innovation" with yeti, based on the company's statement.... yeah, right. Marketing, maybe. Engel was on boats, in Roto-molded coolers well before Yeti. They just catered to the Marine and Boating world and sold larger models. They still make a great product. Yeti just figured out how to get the Yuppie crowd and everyone else followed. (see North Face)

I like the latches on the yeti cooler better. guess what? The ones on the RTIC are identical. Win-win for me. Now I am curious to see what changes are made to the new model.

I noticed that the 20 ounce Ozark Trail tumblers are no longer identical to Yeti. They are concave now. I have 5-6 Ozark trail tumblers and 2 Yeti ones. I prefer the Ozark Trail ones because I don't worry about losing them.

My experience with any yeti knock off tumblr I've owned or handled (rtic, ozark trail, some random brand called atlas, etc.) has been that its almost exactly the same thing. Yeti may have been the first to do it, but these other companies make nearly identical products for much less.

Has anyone tried the 40 or 30 can soft side Rtic? My brother-in-law just got one and we used it on his ski boat last weekend. It appeared to be very nicely made. I'm thinking of picking one up. What are some other good soft side coolers (non-Yeti)?
