RTIC Coolers?

The wife got me a Pelican 65 qrt for a present a couple of years ago. That thing is an absolute beast! On our last road trip to Yellowstone we didn't wee any ice loss until day number 4. We opened it multiple times a day and it even sat baking in one of the bear proof boxes in the campground for two days. I think the Pelican stuff has better hardware than most of the other coolers out there. The only drawback is that it weighs an ABSOLUTE TON when loaded. For less money and a better product (IMO) than a Yeti I'm damn happy with the Pelican!

Looks just like my yeti. The real question is how does it perform?

I have not used it yet on a trip. Too cold here in VA right now. The cooler is built like a tank though. We'll see how it performs in the field this spring...

I picked up a 36qt Igloo Ultra Marine cooler and I'm pretty impressed with it. I couldn't bring myself to spend the $$$ on a plastic box. Most of my trips are weekend outings (max 3/4 days) The Igloo easily keeps ice over a long weekend (bearing the cooler and food is pre-cooled and the cooler is kept in the truck). The 36qt was about $40 on Amazon. If I come across a REALLY good deal on fridge I'll upgrade to that and team it with a solar setup to help offset the power draw.

@Sonofurbo , any updates on the quality, performance of this cooler? Has anyone else pulled the trigger?

Thanks

Nothing yet. Still waiting for it to warm up here so we can use it for the first time. I'm thinking it might be tested in a couple of weeks in West Virginia. I'll post updates ASAP.

I ordered a Tan 65 and a tumbler in April. Tumbler arrived within a week, the cooler was backordered with an initial estimated ship date of 5/31. I was just notified that the cooler's estimated ship date is now 6/17 because of "a delay in shipping that pushed our dates back". This seems pretty consistent with what others have said regarding RTIC's recurring fulfillment delays.

ordered a 65 today. used paypal so i can get my $ back if this becomes a pain in the ass. who knows we shall see

I'm going to order the Rtic cups soon. I purchased a frostbite 65qt cooler after doing tons of research and comparing on the yeti, icy tek, canyon, bison, etc.

I like the handles and rope handle option, it also has a Channel for a center divider. (I made one out of an old cutting board) holds ice for days. Only issue is the weight of this beast! It's about 27lbs empty and when full of food, drinks and ice it's easily 70-80lbs. So it usually requires 2 people to move around.

Looks like this but mine is the 65qt SALE!!!! 48QT Frostbite Cooler L28W16.25H16.50 TAN***Free Ship

I finally was able to use my 45 qt RTIC this past weekend for a short 2 day camping trip. It seemed to work just fine with 20 lbs of ice stuffed in it along with the usual beer and food items. It has a textured top which doubles as a step and it had no problem supporting all 225 lbs of me walking around on top of it. The large drain plug is a very good feature as well. I don't have any other top shelf coolers to compare it to, but I'd say it's probably close to but not quite as nice as a Yetti, but again that's just my opinion based off of what I have seen and read about them.
Questions?

I'd say that's worth it then!

For the price of the rtic I wish I would've found those before I made this purchase. Either way I'm happy with the cooler I have. I dos receive a 20qt roadie Yeti last Xmas and we love it!!

Just got an email that my tan 65 cooler has shipped! Original order date was 4/29

I have had aTan RTIC 45 for a few months. Very happy with the quality and performance. Used the cooler as a freezer on an extended camping trip in May. Lined the bottom with 1 inch sheets of dry ice and covered it with some rubber matting. Contents were frozen solid for 8 days.

So i have been wanting one of these for a while. Looked on the internet and it looks like you can only order one directly from the manufacturer. Is this correct? Wanting a 45oz version for christmas. Saw some listed here and there on amazon but not what i expected.
