My son's truck was having shifting problems. Since he ias low on funds, he bought Autozone parts. We are having problems bleeding out the line. Given the high quality of these parts, should I be surprised?:D

What am I missing, instructions say to bleed with the resorvoir cap off. We tried it with and without the cap and are not having any luck with it.

Any suggestions?

I do not want to spring the $$$ for oem parts cause my son just turned 17, got his license and the toyota truck and now knows everything, including how to blow what little money we give him for allowance.

Thanks in advance,
ML

I usually bleed with cap on...

may have to leave bleeder open on slave and pump a few times to get fluid moving, then shut it and continue with regular bleeding process. I wouldnt be to afraid of aftermarket parts like those...yes they arent as quality as toyota but for the price and availability its sometimes worth it.

GL...

allowance? I had a job when I was 14...but I also had 4 toyotas a 66 licoln and a 60 morris minor by the time I was 17...so maybe you dont want him to have a job yet lol!

Are you getting any fluid out the slave?

Thanks Jerod, after leaving the bleeder screw open and pumping a few times, it finally did.

Thanks, I did open the bleeder on the slave and it seemed to work.

on the allowance, he gets a few bucks per week for lunch, etc. He also has been working since he was 14 in the summers, this year he worked his dream job, the local Cruiser shop. during the school year, he is in band and they get out of practice till 9pm weekdays and 1/2 day on saturdays so there is not much time for him to work...

It is a hydraulic system similar to the brakes. Opening the bleeder should let you push the air out of the system. I had a similar problem on a pickup I was working on, turned out the bleeder was clogged. Shouldn't be a problem with some new parts.
