I had my 4Runner side curtains go off in a level, icy parking lot somewhere around ’07 and my neck still hurts. In ‘16 I got a recall letter from Toyota on the sensor for the bags and was re-imbursed for the cost of the out of warranty repairs.I wonder if they adjusted the system to accommodate the removal of the cutoff switch?
I had an off camber situation on the trail where the bags blew (back in my 4R days). It sounded like a shotgun went off in my ear and I was lucky to not get hurt. I got tippy going through some v-ditches but never felt like I was going to roll.
Toyota pulled the data from the "black box" and determined it functioned properly. So I filed an insurance claim to replace the airbags and headliner. My lesson learned is that I use that cutoff switch just about any time I get on the trails.
I will try and look at this. Thanks.See if the dash indicator lights up if you connect pin 3 and 4.
Toyota Land Cruiser: RSCA off switch - SFI
So after finally getting some time to look at this and even my own picture I realized that mine has 5 wires pinned out not 4. Do you think it could still be this switch and different years have more wires? Or maybe this is not that switch? What else could this plug before? There are no other options in the USA correct? I am at a loss of what it could be. I am also not good at looking at electrical diagrams.See if the dash indicator lights up if you connect pin 3 and 4.

The Airbag Control Module is different on 18+ LC/LX, which omits the option to turn off RSCA. I tried to add RSCA OFF switch back but replacing SRS module requires Front A/C unit removed. So after finally getting some time to look at this and even my own picture I realized that mine has 5 wires pinned out not 4. Damn....well thanks for the info. The Airbag Control Module is different on 18+ LC/LX, which omits the option to turn off RSCA. I tried to add RSCA OFF switch back but replacing SRS module requires Front A/C unit removed.
I guess what they get overseas is different. Since they still have the RSCA off switch on newer 200s.The Airbag Control Module is different on 18+ LC/LX, which omits the option to turn off RSCA. I tried to add RSCA OFF switch back but replacing SRS module requires Front A/C unit removed.
FYI, I had the same experience in my ‘05 4Runner. I was on flat ground on frozen, rutted snow and the curtains went off when I started to roll ahead, I was told the same as you and about three years ago there was a recall and I was reimbursed the full amount. Apparently there as a problem with the sensor in the console. My neck still hurts just thinking about it.I wonder if they adjusted the system to accommodate the removal of the cutoff switch?
