I’m adding my 2 cents here because I’ve seen this topic come up with a few searches but was not able to find a definitive solution.

e.g. RS3000 Alarm problem?

My issue was that on my 97, the RS3000 would not lock the doors. I traced the problem to a discontinuity of the green w/red wire somewhere between the RS3000 under the driver’s seat and the connector at the driver’s kick panel. As refrenced in the link above, it appears that these wires are split somewhere in the harness and that is a likely failure point. I suspect this issue is just as likely to effect the unlock wires as they are probably split the same way.

Rather than tearing into the harness, my fix was to just run a new wire. Hope this saves someone a few hours!

Most people just toss that old piece of 20+ year old electronics, you will soon get more problems with it, I have thrown 6 of them in the garbage

Let me see if I've got this straight:

Someone takes the time to actually post helpful technical information in the tech section on how he figured out a way to keep the keyless entry functional. And all he gets is it was a waste of time and he should have yanked it and tossed it before making a successful repair.....

Wonderful.

Cool thanks your post sent me to look at a problem I have had for the last 2 year. I was just locking it with the door switch and using the fob to unlock it.
I have the TVSS system on my 95. I looked at the EWD and it shows the green/red wire is to the key unlock switch on both the drivers and front passenger door. There are 2 green/red wires going into the TVSS. I was getting no continuity on either wire. I then started tearing into the harness to see which one was which. Then I found three green/red wires going into the harness two where coming from the door connectors and the other ran up under the dash somewhere. I then found a crimp connector that had disintegrated that connected two of the green/red wires into one wire that goes into the TVSS. Fixed that and now it locks and unlocks like it is supposed to.
I have read these systems were installed after they came into the country. In looking at how it was installed. I suspect they didn’t install it properly. There are individual wires that are not wrapped most of the way. I believe that was so it would lay flat in the bottom of the metal channel the main harness ran in. There was enough room to pull the harness so the wrapped portion of the harness was out of the main channel and under the carpet and drivers seat. This should keep the connectors out of the high moisture area and hopefully keep it from corroding.

Well done!🍺

To the OP, you have been vindicated.

You say the connector at the kick panel? Do you have a picture?
