It's been a slow go. Busy with work and Emma, oh, and it's hunting season....

I did buy a tig welder so that has been a nice addition to the shop, I should have bought one years ago.

It's getting closer. Everything needs to be so precise as everything is such a tight fit to get the max tuck and it gets to be lots of to work around.

The biggest issue, working around the bottom of the long 6cyl engine.

I should have more pics by the weekend.

6" less wheel gap

Mocking up towers, steering and track bar mount.

Track bar mock up with bends. It's going to be 1.5" .250 wall DOM with EMF rod ends

Talk about tight clearances. I still need to gusset and clean up some welds but it is coming together quickly.

Man, you weren't kidding. That's tight!

I love how little fender gap there is. Looks like an excellent way to lower the front end while gaining flex.

just need to get the links painted up, then onto the coil over hoops and engine bay reassembly!

Completed axle with bump stop pads, all link brackets, limit strap tabs ect. Blasted, epoxy primed and urethane top coat.

links blasted and painted. They should be permanently on the tuck this weekend!!

I also made the lower links for the rear. They are same length as the front lowers. Not sure if this was a good idea or not but in means I only need to carry one spare to fit any of the lowers. Overall length eye to eye is 42" which I think is pretty good.

passenger side links complete. Next up the driverside. Still need the fishplate, bumpstop can and CO hoop.

file-48.jpg

Driver side fishplate, bump can, track bar mount and a start on the CO hoops.

file-49.jpg

Bump stops just need one last test fit and I can weld on the fish plates and then it's on to the CO hoops!

Just a quick update to keep all this in the same place.

Shock tabs reinforced and awaiting crossbar

file-53.jpg

Coil over hoops in place and steering box frame sleeved and in place

pitman arm crown nut JUST clearing the frame, everything is tight on this truck!

Good day in the garage so far. I got the astro van hydro bred up to the corvette master and got the fire wall plate done. Everything fits perfectly. I just need to get some lines made and the clevis modified for the brake pedal.

I also got a cool cross member bent up over at jps house of fab. Picture to follow!

so first you bend up a rad piece of 1.5" .250 wall DOM and then you bolt the two flanges together with a washer in between. Weld both flanges in place.

file_zps06ba6a6f.jpg

Then weld the cross member in place. Next comes the neat part, remove the bolts and tap out the washers. Take your sawz-all and cut the piece of DOM. Perfect fit.

They front end is sitting on the bump stops compressed 2". The tank and regulator worked GREAT. I cant wait to get the coil overs on. Hopefully Friday. Then it mounting up all the extras (Webasto, shower and propane inn) and then fender cutting time.

Fish plate completely weld, blasted and painted.

Steering shaft cleaned up and ready to install, it's a long sucker, over 6.5" over stock

And that's an installed coil over with the weight of the truck sitting on it!

Still lots to do. Clearance fenders, clearance frame for draglink, brakes, batteries, air filter, intercooler etc etc...

Your work is impressive as always!
And neat trick on the cross member!

What's your plan on clearancing? I hope you're not taking the sawsall and go to town on Marmaduke, I love your truck!
It could be cool to move the original fender edges out, but keep them, I haven't seen that done before.

thanks all.

No plans yet on clearancing. I am going to start with the front lower corners as that's going to be the easiest. I would like to retain the OEM fiberglass fender flares of some sort. It will will be the biggest struggle of the build for me.

quick update.

drag link almost parallel with the ground. track bar is a perfect match. Should work out OK.

file_zpsc0257637.jpg

clearance issue resolved. I need to do the same on the other side.

file_zpsf3787372.jpg

fender trimming has begun.... I basically moved the flare up as far as it would go and started cutting. The front corner is going to need to be raised.

I don't know much about your suspension upgrades, it's ilkegal here, so I can't judge that, but it looks cool!
But you did exactly what I hoped for on the fenders, kept it a HJ61, instead of just hacking away, love it!!!
