What ever happened to the chosen for high risk smog inspection?
Did you tell them the truck was in pieces?


I hope they never do smog here in the "land of easy , cheap living"

For now, that truck is officially non-operational. It's just a frame anyway. If no one needs the 76 frame, I'm going to turn in the title to the DMV and take it off the books.

In California, the title follows the frame. Since my frame is a 71, the truck is titled as a 71. Up through 75, all cars/trucks in California are smog exempt.

Thanks for the kind words.

Good question. I think this winter's project will be making the motor into a 2F-E with the 3F-E motor that I have. I really like the idea of Toyota fuel injection in my FJ40.

I have an H41 transmission, and an Orion seems like where I'm headed. Not sure about that though.

I also have a long term plan to SOA my FJ60 and make it my primary 4-wheeler. That seems like a straight forward project at this point. I'll likely get started on the protection this off-season and go from there.

I was hoping for a shot at Fordyce creek, but I understand that is closed this year due to fire risk.

Nice write up. The rear adjusters sound like it would be worth the swap. Nevermind the extra width on the slabs. The slabs have a lot of pucker going for them.

I was bummed about Fordyce too, it was my inspiration to build up a 40.
Fordyce is usually the first run of the season for BBCNN, I'll keep you posted on dates for '08, that is if you want to come along with us.

Peter---Those were some good times. I hope we see you again, at another Rubithon. You might also try and join us for Dusy-Ershim. I'll even let you drive the 40, since I've done a spring over on my 60 and just need a Toybox to get it on the trail.
