Nice looking rig. You got me in trouble with the wife and in-laws the other night by parking by our window at Chuy's. They were teasing me about my LC obsession.

I stay in trouble.. I see a cruiser and all sense of responsibility and adulthood goes out the window.. I'm a kid in a candy store with money that's burning a hole in my pocket... MUST HAVE MORE CRUISER!!!!

Worst part was that I told her before buying, that I would get better once I had my own....I was so very wrong.....

I try to be good.. BUT I AM AN ENABLER....

So A, what are we doing when I come to town brother... need help with anything? I'm in for whatever at nights..

That's awesome! I wondered whose that was. I walked over and took stalker pics! Haha

Glad y'all noticed it. You should come to the next TLCC-Houston Meeting. I don't know when it is, but I will find out and get back to you!

Let the wife tease ya. She is just jealous cause you have one and she doesn't!

J, I don't really have much to do. I mean if you wanted to go through my 3FE Harness with me we could do that haha. I just have an apartment. No garage :(

Maybe I'll figure something out. But I doubt it's gonna be anything exciting haha. What dates are you here again? Start a convo with me or something.

I went wheeling today with some friends. Here are some pictures!

No action shots, nothing to really get technical on. I got stuck once, on a hill in some really deep sand. No photos of that haha

Looks like fun. How you like the KM2s K??

J

The KM2's are great for me. Not too loud on the road, with more of a bang when I hit the trail. I was going to comment about getting stuck in the sand, but I did not air down. Didn't feel like it. So that's driver error lol

I have aired these tires down to 15psi while on rocky, loose dirt terrain and they did great. The only complaints I've read about them is weak sidewalls, and of course poor tread life... Which reminds me I need to rotate my tires :D

One of these days the meeting will fall on a day that I'm not on shift....looking like August will be the first one.

Where did y'all go in the pics? Down South Off Road?

I wouldn't mind hitting some trails, kinda waiting for sliders and rear bumper first....really, some free time to go exploring would be nice...

We went near the San Jacinto River and I-45. I've never been and probably couldn't find it again haha.

I'd love to go to Down South again once it gets hot. Not much else out there but mud. The river is a plus. Should be nice and cool when it's hot out.

I need to do the front pads on my 60. I think the rotors are still good. No vibes under decel.

I see Rock Auto has "Advics" for ~$30. Probably gonna order those if they sound good to y'all.

All the local parts stores just have stuff like "brake best" and "raybestos." No thanks on those.

I've read the pads are pretty easy to do and I don't really have time to rip apart the front end more than just the pads.

Although I do need to order a distributor vacuum advance. Napa has that online. Are their house brand brake pads good?

TIA

A

I have the NAPA premium pads or whatever they are and have had those recommended by Kurt at Cruiser Outfitters as a decent replacement. Nothing like going OEM I am sure but they work just fine for me.

My NAPA rear shoes have been great for the 20 miles I've put on them so far.... Go for it.

Thanks for the feedback gents!

I'm gonna bite the bullet and order some pads and the vacuum advance. Wish that last part was a little cheaper, but you gotta pay to play!

Man you guys are killing me. I am sitting here saying to myself, yup..yup.. My wife was the one that suggested I get a cruiser! She loves it but hates how much I have put into it. Lol they are a labor of love and money! Nothing I would rather spend my money on...except I am always trying to justify another cruiser in the family:) I have found the best thing to do is tell here I need something for it and then be sure to tack on a few more items when I get a green light to spend ;)

Napa pads aint bad, I have their rotors and rear shoes on right now. I need to check those shoes though since I put them on about a year ago now. I need to do front brakes and I will probably go with napa for those too. the rotors are good to go and still have meat

Over Memorial Day Weekend I did some work on the 60.

- Rotated the tires
- New front brake pads
- Installed rebuilt Aisan carburetor

I've also begun to tackle the rebuilding of the choke cable. I bought some cable from the local bike shop and cable housing. I read the stock cable was .047" which is ~1.2mm. The bike shop had stainless shifter cable, 1.2mm. And a teflon lined housing for it. The shifter cable came in 2m length. I got the same amount of cable housing. Cost - about $16. The problem I'm having.... The cable is a little smaller than stock, and the barrel at the carb end broke when heating it up. No worries because it looks like Dorman makes a cable stop kit with a 1/4" stop. Should be the right size.

I need to get a tool to measure engine RPM under the hood while tuning the carb, believe that is called a dwell meter? Any suggestions on a good one?

The 60 starts with no choke, but I want to have a functioning cable. And then once I have another car (after graduating) I'll pull all of that for EFI :D

I don't have working AC yet, so I haven't hooked up the AC Idle Up.

This set-up lacks throttle response compared to the Weber. BUT right now I have a bad vacuum advance on the distributor and a poor tune on the carb. I will fix those and report back.

PS- Weber 38 carb with LC Engineering air cleaner just sitting in a box...
