wow...that looks truly awesome. Nice work.

Wow, that's nice detail work, running the wires internally w/grommets. Posts like this remind me that I really need to get a welder...

That is one good looking rig!!!

cool thanks! I am going to g I've them a shot.

Thanks you guys! Just a side note @tractorpole, the covers do block a lot of light coming out of the bar.

Resurrecting an older thread. This is one of favorite homemade roof racks for an 80. I'm curious about your mounts... did you take the piece of trim off your rain gutter? Mine still has the chrome but I'm wondering if it needs to come off to make this work.

The rain gutter has the original trim as far as I know. I didn't know it came off, unless my 1992 doesn't have it compared to newer models.

In other news, the rack has performed flawlessly for many trips and having as much as roughly 600 pounds on it at times.

I ripped that chrome trim piece off when I did the whole body Monstaliner. I have similar gutter clamps and I think it's best to remove it.

Let me ask I have a 97 fzj and I always worry the lightforce will obstruct the cooling, any probs? I have a JDM aux fan and the blue fan clutch mod.

I have no issues, but I have a 3FE, hood vents, electronic pusher fan, and 15k cst fluid in the fan clutch.

Cool, thanks for the feedback. Out of curiosity, do you know how much the rack itself weighs? It's gotta come in at over 100 pounds itself, right?

Not sure with the big fairing, but with the light bars on it came in right around 85 iirc

That light?! What gauge metal did you use?

I don't remember what I used, but it's held up perfectly. The weight is give or take maybe it was 95lbs, but I remember it being less than 100 pounds.
