84' 4runner...

I have tried sealing the windshield where it meets the body, all around the trim, (used some 3-M windshiel seal stuff).

Still I get the drips that fall right on my lap or on the seat when it is parked. Always have the soggy seat!

I thought it might be the Hardtop where it meets the cab, so I filled the gap on top at the interface with silicone...

Where is the water coming in from?

It drips out from the roof liner trim, right near the windshield.

Mine drips on my hand on the steering wheel in heavy rain. I had a glass guy reseal my windshield and it still didn't fix it. I know it's not the top though... I think the windshield seals just suck and I really need to take mine out and redo the whole thing.

Well my last 4runner and my FJ60 before that both did it and from what I could tell the only way to really fix it was to pull the windshield out and start from scratch. It wasn't exactly leaking between the windshield and the seal so much as between the windshield and the cab itself. You might have a little luck siliconing it on the inside of the truck, but it will only be temporary. I'd take the windshield out (be careful with the trim! It's weak) and grind the frame down really well, replace any rust with sheet metal if you have a welder. If you don't have a welder but the rust isn't too bad, hit it with a wire brush to knock all the scale down and fill in the pits with JB weld. Paint over it with metal etching primer and have someone come put a new windshield in. Going with any of the Corporate cheap companies will usually yield you a cheap windshield, cheap materials (glue etc), and a cheap (crappy install). I have a friend who owns his own private company and he can usually tell what company put in a windshield before him :grinpimp:.

Man, I believe you guys...But it is hard to beleive "mine" is still leaking, (like a siv), I mean a lot.

I have this 3-m stuff specific for sealing windshield and it is gobbed on, cant even see any place it could have a chance to get in...That is why I am dumbfounded.

Man it is such a beater, I really dont want to go through pulling it out to fix...

DOH!!!!

I had a windshield place seal mine when it was leaking. I went back 3 times before it finally was sealed...So if you are doing it yourself....be prepared to do it at least 3 separate times. Eventually mine sealed, maybe yours will too:cheers:

I tried to seal my '88 several times, but it never worked. When I rolled it, the windshield popped out & broke but I cold see all he way around the flange where I had rusty spots & seepage. I cut the pillars & grafted a new cab, then cleaned up the flange real good. A new windshield on a fat bed of polyurethane and now I have no leaks. Your truck is old enough to buy beer, I bet your windshield flange is rusty too.

You Need To Remove The Glass And Apply Bthe Sealent To The Out Side Edge Of Weather Stripng Then Re Install Gasket Then Reinstall Glass And Run A Small Bead Of Sealent Along The Edge Of Glass And Rubber!
