Looking at the DobinsonsUSA website, there appears to be a Dobinsons Stock Height Restoration IMS Kit for 1990-97 Toyota Land Cruiser 80 Series.

The Australian Dobinsons website does not list this kit. So I looked at the individual part numbers from the USA website, and it appears as though they are available to order individually, here in Australia.

DOBINSONS COIL SPRING PAIR (C59-210V) - Front
DOBINSONS COIL SPRING PAIR (C59-221V) - Rear
2 × DOBINSONS 2.6" IMS MONOTUBE SHOCK - IMS59-60683
2 × DOBINSONS 2.6" IMS MONOTUBE SHOCK - IMS59-60682 - Rear

I'm assuming these are the same?

I'm assuming, given the part numbers appear to match, that these would not be any kind of lift?

My car currently has Pedders Suspension my father had installed back in 2007. Shocks and Springs. When I rang Pedders, they couldnt tell me much about what was fitted, other then that the springs were roughly "10% stiffer then stock". To me, the cruiser doesn't look lifted.

I'm trying to keep roughly the same height, but massively improve rideability.

The vehicle tows a light boat and some camping gear. Clearance is good as it will be parked in a garage, so can't be lifted. I don't do any offroad stuff, apart from very light trails. I've already replaced the BFG muddies with the same size in a more mild all terrain, but bumpiness/harshness is still very much there.

Appreciate any help.

Cheers,
Pete

I have not installed yet, but I can confirm that those are the part #'s (shocks and springs) I have in the a garage as a "stock height" replacement. I am expecting approximately 1" over stock per a few different threads here on Mud.

that's perfectly acceptable, given the factory shocks and springs will sag over time. My Pedders setup, while old, has only about 50,000km mileage, is using TrakRyder shock absorbers which are foam cell, and the coils, I'm not 100% sure, but I've emailed the business to see if they have anything they can send me about the specific specs of what was fitted back in 2007.

Ride quality/comfort has as much to do with tires as it does with springs and shocks.
Tire load rating and pressures should not be overlooked.
I agree. For those like myself who want to run the stock 16" wheels and oversize a bit to 33" and 35" OD tires, the selection is often limited and mostly E load tires from what I found.

yep, which is why I moved from BF Goodrich Mud Terrains that were 12 years old, to brand new Yokohama Geolandar G018s... I did stay with the same size though.. 285 75r16.

Tyre pressures, I followed the placard inside the door.. what pressures do you recommend?

OP is right, they have to piece it together over there from the part numbers, he listed it all correctly.

Many thanks Mike, much appreciated :)

so this setup should keep my ride height about the same as my current setup then (I hope).

That's right. You can try changing just the shocks first if you don't want the ride height to change

I just thought the Dobinsons springs might rid a bit better as they're progressive (I think), so would soak up the bumps a little better when I'm not towing the boat, then once the extra weight goes on the back they should stiffen up a bit to prevent the sag (boat isnt super heavy). Thoughts?

What’s the deal with trying to get parts from your country? Even before all this tariff BS I couldn’t find any company’s willing to send me a snorkel, as we really can’t get any good ones here in the States.

No idea mate.. so they just wont offer postage to the states? Maybe the shipping costs have put them off..

Ya I mean this was even pre-tariff I found one company that would entertain the idea the rest didn’t want anything to do with it. I’d gladly pay the extra cash for shipping.

I'd check again.. I find the same issue with places in the states not shipping to Australia as well.. Maybe because it's more of a hassle to lodge with DHL etc.. still.. not really.. anyone with an account can easily sort this out.
