Would 11 bumpers be possible here or does that screw up logistics/pricing? This is starting to look plausible for me if they land in Raleigh with Dangcat.

TIA

Well hello fellow Carolinian, so nice that Spring stopped by last week! Yeah you guys just let me know and i will be more than happy to help. I can live stream/upload the receiving/shipping process so that everyone can see exactly how it arrived and exactly how it left here. You guys are welcome to stop by any time to check up on things/be there when shipment arrives as well. I don't want anyone having trouble sleeping at night wondering if their bumpers are in good hands lol.

Hi there, yes it seems were are getting a taste of all four seasons in a 72 hour period, which is par for the course i'd say. On the purchase front, am I correct to assume that once shipped from Rhino, they would port somewhere on the west coast and then from that currently TBD location be shipped again to you, say for us guys on the East Coast, and then somewhere else more convenient for the others? Obviously Jason will have more concrete information soon, just thinking it through.

Jason and Rhino should have more expertise on this matter, but my guess is it will be cheaper/less of a headache to just ship everything to one location, then ship straight from that location to each person. This saves you the cost of shipping between warehouses, and saves the headache of figuring out who is where and how many goes to east/west, as well as saves you from having to look for 2 receiving locations.

I think what they should figure out, if we go east coast hub/my parents warehouse, is whether it is cheaper to dock on west coast then land freight it to east, or cheaper to try and dock it on east then truck it from there. We are a few minutes from RDU airport on innovation avenue, zip code 27560, hope that helps you figure out shipping estimates.

Also, if you give me box dimensions and weight of each individual bumper, i can mess around with shipping estimates later and help figure out whether or not the difference in prices for shipping each one individually to east/west is worth the headache of trying to split them across 2 receiving locations.

Also, if everyone planning on buying gives me their zip codes as well, i can help figure out what your cost would be for shipping from the east versus west coast, and see how much of a difference it makes. If it is a big difference then probably better to split them and the east coast people can split the shipping cost of it going from west to east? I'm just thinking it through as well.

UPDATE:

Good news is we have >10 people so will be getting the 10% discount, provided no one backs out.

I have an email out to Rhino requesting some information about shipping as well as weight and dimensions of the box(es) these are packed in, just waiting to hear back. Unfortunately I didn't get it out until late last night which means they'll only have Friday to get answers to us, otherwise we won't hear back until next week.

All who have emailed me should have access to the Google sheet. If you do not, let me know. Please get your info on there ASAP.

If you have not received an email with the shared Google sheet you are currently NOT part of this group buy. If you'd like to change that, email me.

With the help of advice from some Mudders much more well versed with this sort of thing than I, I'm investigating import agents/customs brokers and shipping and will report back as soon as there is actionable information.

Based on all information we have currently, bumpers to port in the US will be $1750-1900 PLUS options (light bar, camera relocation, etc.), import fees/taxes and shipping throughout the US.

Thanks, and stay tuned...

Here is what i have so far from the spreadsheet. We got 6 on Eastern and 3 in mountain/central and 1 on west coast. I have not ran any shipping estimates yet as i realized that i can't use the company shipping account without messing up our books, so i will call a few freight companies tomorrow and ask if i can create a child-account where we can get discounts while keeping it on seperate books. I have to do this while keeping everything seperate from an accounting perspective. Will report back in after i make some calls and talk to some freight companies tomorrow. I will also ask our shipping guys for advice once they are done with today's orders.

Anyone in the group buy that does not see your marker, it means you have not reported to the Spreadsheet from this thread. You can add yourself using the link below if you want help with figuring out shipping.

@mcgaskins Do you remember if your Rhino bumper came in one normal pallet? Was it a long pallet? Two pallets? Any picture of when it arrived/possibly package dimensions? Thanks in advance.

He posted this in his original thread. Assuming thats a 6ft bed, kinda gives you an idea..

Alright...I've got what I feel to be great news.

Heard back from Rhino yesterday:

Bumper comes in one box. 65kg--100cm x 65cm x 45 cm. Each box is palletized and shipped individually to each customer. Flat international shipping fee of $720 AUD (~$500 USD) to the US. They use TNT who then hands off to FedEx to finish delivery. This is where you each will need to do your homework to determine additional cost to get it from the west coast (assume LAX or SFO) to your location. Perhaps @Dangcat can help with this?

Each person will be emailed an individual invoice to pay with the bulk discount applied. Credit card payments incur a 1.5% surcharge. Invoices will be issued in AUD.

Shipping is air freight so bumpers will be in the US within a week of leaving Rhino.

Assuming 10% discount (we currently have 15 people interested so hopefully no more than 5 reconsider):
2016+ bumper---$2200 USD + FedEx fees +/- options (bull bar, camera relocation, stainless bash plate, etc.)
2008-2015---$2050 + FedEx fees +/- options

For those that are still in at these prices go back to the Google spreadsheet and add in any missing info. I made some changes so please ensure everything is 100% accurate. There are no do overs once this gets sent to Rhino.
Name
Phone number
Shipping Address
Email address
Bumper year with desired options

If you are not comfortable putting your address and/or phone number on the sheet, please email me and I'll put together a separate spreadsheet that I'll send to Rhino

I'll compile everything and send off to Rhino first thing next week. I did not confirm this but suspect they won't ship until they have payment in full so once you receive the email invoice, please pay ASAP and notify me that you've paid.

Questions?

Yep, so the bumper comes in 2 parts so that it isn’t so long that it can’t fit on one pallet. That’s a good thing.
That's two separate bumpers. I've got an email out to Rhino inquiring on the size of the pallet. I'm assuming standard 40"x48" based on the size of the box but have no idea.

Anyone have any idea how we can figure out what sort of of customs/import fees FedEx might charge on these? Determining shipping fee from west coast shouldn't be too difficult.

I was just thinking that might've been 2 bumpers, thanks for clearing that up. It still looks like it it comes dissambled with a left and right part since 40 inches length is not enough to cover the width of the bumper. Definitely a 1 standard-sized-pallet job, and looks safe to stack 2-3 on each pallet if people who are close to each other want to bundle and save. Looking at the map it looks viable for some (i added 2 more to map today from VA).

Is it an option to ship from west coast straight to each individual, as in is there someone there with the ability to handle this over there? You would need a place with a loading dock and some pallet jacks and extra pallets, as well as someone to handle the work of individually loading/preparing(strap and wrap)/creating shipping labels for them. If there is no option on West Coat, then i will just research shipping specifically from our warehouse here in NC, since i already know we can handle that here. Will keep everyone posted on what i learn.

Trying to locate that famous spreadsheet. Where is the link?

Bumper is modular so yes, comes diassembled.

I'm not sure how TNT and FedEx interface to get each bumper to individual customers. I would think that Rhino packs a handful on a pallet and TNT collects a few pallets, flies them over to the West Coast and leaves them in the hands of FedEx. This must be the most cost-effective and efficient way (instead of shipping 15 bumpers, each on its own pallet). I would guess that FedEx then breaks down the pallets and packages individually to the US addresses?

FedEx will be taking over once the bumpers land on the West Coast and will ship to individuals. We don't have anyone there ordering who could take this on. It could be cheaper to ship several bumpers to your warehouse then distribute from there but that would require multiple buyers to use your address and then figuring out shipping or pick up with you. If anyone on the East Coast wants to do that it needs to be figured out quickly as I want to get this order in ASAP.

It was shared with you through your gmail address. Search for the email, click the link and you should have the most up-to-date version. Let me know if you're still having trouble
