That's a great pic. I put a big rock under my ladder to be sure I don't overextend it. If you do, you'll break the plastic clips that attach to the tensioning rope.

As far as ladders go. The new style ladders will soon be available for the old style tents. There's also a 12" extension for those (myself included) who put their tent on top of their safari rack, or have a really tall set up. All together it should be good for 80"-90" or more of extension. Beats the old 72". I'll be sending a few to Moab along with a demo of the new tent if all goes well.

If anyone is interested in a ladder, new tent or new tent with changing room let me know and I'll make you a killer deal. The new tent is better thanks to everyone here on Mud. Passing out deals to Mudders was the best thing to happen to car-top-tents.

Send me an email with what you need. I'm having problems keeping my PM box empty.

Chad - Who do you work for and do you have pics and prices? A website maybe. A lot of us are looking to replace our ladders. I think it would be nice if you made gave us a mud discount. I assume you work for cartoptent, but just want to cover my bases.

PM'd you.

Jenny-

are you a tent dealer in Moab? I'll be there the first week of June and would love to see these tents up close!

I'm in Colorado. I'd be happy to meet you on your way to Moab if you're going through CO.

My lift/sliders are done and I will try to be in Moab for the Vendor Expo on the 3rd. If not, May 4-6. If you need anything tent/ladder wise please let me know and I'll bring it out there. I can pull a trailer if necessary.

I tried to scan every post.... I didnt see any Hannibal tents here. Doesnt anyone use them here? I know they're bucks, and frankly HARD to find, but they seem pretty cool, and I love those awnings.

I'm likely going to be buying one in the next couple days. I think these car-top-tent.com tents look promising, but even at their reasonable prices I don't want to be the guinea pig. I'd rather spend the money up front for a good proven tent than spend it on something that may not last and have to be replaced. I offered to take a tent at a further reduced price in exchange for me doing good, detailed writeups on it as I use it but as I didn't hear back from them I don't think they feel that's worth it.

If you're looking to buy Hannibal tents, you can get them at www.pangaea-expeditions.com (they also sell Eezi-Awn) or at www.atlanticbritish.com . In Canada check out www.hannibal.ca .

I just ordered a 1.4 metre Hannibal tent and will post photos and a review when I have it set up on my truck. I'm looking forward to that!

From where?

I will be at the CM07 vendor expo Wednesday showing off the new Cartoptents RTT on my 94 with the changing room. I'm hauling a couple of extra ladders as well. I'll be somewhere in the Slickrock campground.

Here's a few pics of the new tent and the changing room.

There will be a raffle for one of these at Cruise Moab. All you need to do to enter the raffle is write your name and cell number on a $20 bill and drop it in the box. We'll draw a winner on Friday. Some lucky SOB will win a tent for $20. What could be better?

Pics inside the tent and changing room. The tent has two doors and two windows. The changing room also has a door and two windows.

might be nice to post some info on possible retrofits of ladder, rainfly, and changing room as far as the 2 previous versions of the tents are concerned.
thanks.

The new tent is quite a bit narrower than the old style. The fly won't fit the old style tents without adding material to widen it. I have yet to compare the two tents to see if adding a changing room is a possibility or not.

To add the ladder you will need to drill four holes through the outside tube and bolt the mounting plate and ladder to the frame. To remove the old ladder all you have to do is drill out the rivets.

I have yet to modify my old tent, but will post some pics as soon as I have a chance.

Thanks,

Chad
