Got my S10 tilt column modified to fit. Had to relocate the gm column mounted dimmer switch and ignition switch. Added length to the ignition rod and cut the dimmer rod. Now there is neither interference with the brake pedal nor the pedal bracket. I would have used the stock column and wheel if they didn't need every peice replaced.

I've been at a bit of an impass since I've been short a couple of very important parts, like the hood and windshield frame. I had a windshield frame but I had blasted it only to discover how incredibly terrible it was. Most parts I found were either too far away or too expensive. But, I happened upon a craigslist ad for the exact thing I needed. Another parts machine.

The jamb tag says 1973, the windshield frame, hardtop sides and disc brake front differential are all later. The hood is in very good condition and the jump seats it came with are in very good condition. Sadly there were no front seats, roll bar, top shell or rear doors, and it came with are title. Pretty good for under 2k

Decided to swap in some 4.88 gears in this frankenstein machine and good grief, I was getting myself spun sideways trying to get a decent mesh pattern. I'd add a small stack of shims and needed to pull some out. I'd pull shims and no change, do it again and barely any change. When I was preparing to haul this basket case in to someone who has a clue I discovered the bearing on the pinion was moving. I don't have a press and was driving the pinion out with a 1"×1" aluminum bar and a handsledge. It worked fine other than jarring the bearing on the pinion. Once I got that resolved it went rather swimmingly.

The front diff is a total mess, all the knuckle bearings are rusty crusty and the wheel bearings on the driver's side are total junk. This diff has only been rolled several feet at a time for several years and I think it was parked with water in it because about a 1/4 cup drained out of the driver's knuckle. I think I'd rather do body work

Getting the mesh in the front 3rd member was far less of a headache than the rear was, up until I pulled the threads out of 2 different pinion nuts trying to get preload with a crush sleeve. After cleaning up the pinion threads in put the crush sleeve in the vise and squeezed it while I heated it. Really took the wind out of my sails after getting the shims set after only 3 tries
