Has anyone tried this trim restoring product, on dash pads, steering wheel pad, crash bar pads, etc? Any opinions?

I saw a vid on some product a while back that was magic. It might have been one of Scotty Kilmer's product reviews.

Myself, some times there are chemicals that make stuff look new "for a while" then later its rots more deeply. I like Armor All as it hasn't really added to deep rot, so far as I have noticed.

One of Murphy's1 famous laws states that “left to themselves, things will always go from bad to worse.” This humorous prediction is, in a way, echoed in the second law of thermodynamics. That law deals with the concept of entropy. Stated simply, entropy is a measure of the disorder of a system. A two ton pile of rust doesn't turn back into an FJ40 spontaneously

$18 on Amoron 84% 4 and 5 stars but I read the one stars.

Truly epends on the plastic, texture and color. Heat sometimes works for a while, but that's a last resort for me.

For what you're looking for, which is all black....Kiwi Shoe Dye is the best, lasts a long time. Clean it well then coat it, sometimes twice or three times to get it really smooth and dark black.

Colored texture I usually just clean really well with ultrasonic/stiff brush/dawn soap and finish with aerospace 303, sometimes a couple coats after letting it 'absorb' it.

Smooth plastic needs to be cut, polished and some coating to make it last.

Bought my 68 in July of 1974. Fall of 74 I bought a passenger seat out of 69 FJ40 in LA, somewhere close to LAX as I remember. Hauled it back to Flagstaff in the truck of my Monte Carlo. My 68's original passenger seat looked like they had a gorilla as passenger. Tube frame was bend so bad it had a 2X4 used to hold the seat upright. I used Armor All on the 69 seat. Was so proud of it because it looked brand new. Once the freezing weather came the vinyl shattered like thin ice. Soft and pliable in warm weather, brittle once it got cold. After that only used Armor All on tires.

Your story clicked my memory- in 1974 I was leaving basic training in February carrying my dress blues in a garment bag through downtown Chicago, walking to the airport shuttle. The garment bag shattered in the cold. When it warmed back up on the shuttle bus it was hanging in shreds. I was stunned!
