I have a chance to get a 31-731 but it doesn't have a motor. Searching online I haven't figured out what motor it uses. Can anyone tell me what to look for? HP, rotation and other specs please.
It’s still a bit early but I’ll get out there and get that data you requested in a bit.

Just to be clear, I have a 31-730 but I’m betting both share a similar motor.

Hopefully this helps.

I picked up a new surplus 31-730 but it came with a 208v 3phase motor. I've got phase converter but it's 240 and from what I could find that 208v motor likely wouldn't last long. Couldn't find an original 1ph so went with one of these. Chineseum but works so far. I did have to add some spacers on the rear base cover for it to clear.

These bearings are very common and the local bearing house stocks 100 of both fully sealed and shielded.

I went through my scrap pile of pressing tools I've turned over the years and found a sleeve that was a few thou larger than the shaft and contacted the inner bearing race only. Worked good for this application.

Reassembling of the end cover was done using the long assembly bolts (4) by tightening each bolt a little at a time alternating to keep things even allowing the bearings to seat into receiving bosses.

Thats all I had time for after work.
Expecting 79 degrees and calm winds on Saturday for spraying the lower cabinet and finish this project up.
I recently acquired a Delta 31-710. It's missing the motor which I can easily replace. What I don't know is what size the pulley on the end is supposed to be.

I am having a hard time locating the lever to lock the belt platen.

Another issue with my 1978 rebuild. I can't get the 12" disk plate off. It is really stuck. Any ideas.

^ Don't know about your plate specifically, but generally speaking I've been pleasantly surprised at how often heat will help with stuck items...

But you should start your own thread about your machine if you have specific questions about it.

The disc is secured to a hub using three flat head countersunk type screws. The hub can be removed using a puller. Use some penetrating oil and soak for a bit. Be careful to properly purchase the with the puller, and be gingerly with it. The die cast can break very easily.
You can try some heat as well as mentioned.
Mine came off with a puller.
If you’re having a tough time removing those disc to hub screws, a cordless impact should do the trick. Hit them with penetrating oil as well.

Mine measures about 2-1/2”-3” where the V-belt rides. Hard to get an accurate measurement because the cabinets access favors the opposite end of motor.

These will only be found used. Keep looking at sites like eBay. I believe that part is called a trunnion clamp/lock. Using the correct terminology when searching really helps save time.
Best of luck.

Hello Firestopper! I have thoroughly enjoyed your rebuild. Great work and nice shop! I too have recently aquired a 31-710 and the only missing item is the belt tensioner handle. Appears to be either the NCS 59 or DDL 160 for replacement. Hopefully you can steering me in the correct purchase.
