I was just hoping that someone out there would would jump in and solve this issue for all of us. I have to believe that someone has solved the felt / wiper issue.

Maybe I'll be able to get my OK supplier give me the name of his source and we could get a special run done.

I'm sure they manufacture it in long runs and we could just maybe get some "special" cuts?

You guys have helped so many of us over the years - me included - Thanks

I used used standard window felts for my FJ . I drilled small holes in the strip and the used small plastic Christmas trees to attach it along with some weather strip adhesive . It's on there. As far as the window felt itself that goes around the glass Its still available from PPG. It comes in 10ft strips and works great . YES BIG SAL I bringing some up for you!

here's a shot of the stuff i got from bd. it's been about six years ago, but iirc, it was in a 4' stick

Ah! So yours have the rubber coating on the back! Nice touch. I wish mine had that to keep the stainless off the paint.

here's a pic of how the clips sit in the stock felt

Yep, I took pics of my old felts when they came out.

So you just drilled holes in your new felts, no slots, correct? In that case, you would have to make sure you drilled the holes in the correct spacing as the holes in the doors to get them to line up.

Did you install clips in felts first, then install felts?

Thanks!

PS: Are you wearing nail polish in that picture? Don't think I have ever seen you wearing nail polish!

Okay, so it had been too long since I looked at the stock I ordered.

Looks like it does have rubber surface on the back.

I started marking and drilling and then inserting those little clips.

I am not a drinking man, but I thought about starting after getting the tailgate strip in...

Looking at my stock wiper felts got me thinking if there was a way to re-use the metal from these and adhere the felt over the top of the clips?
The slots they cut in the factory ones are nice, and the slots are recessed, so you do not need to pull the clips through the thick, new felt and rebend them in order to for them to fit the little hole in the door.
Doing the tailgate inner felt wiper wore me out!
Wondering if anyone has tried re-using the metal from their felt wipers and somehow attaching new felt material? I have all the metal from my doors, but the inner tailgate felt was missing.

i got a chunk of the material from bd weatherstrip in s. denver and reused the clips. pretty easy to do. worst part was making sure the clips got under the felt. you have to slit the felt, push the clip in place, and peel the felt back over the head. drilling wasn't a big deal. no press, just on a block of wood on my welding table.

Ige, did you use the same felts for inside AND outside?

Or did you use felt inside and squeegee outside, like here: https://forum.ih8mud.com/fj55-iron-...urce-digging-but-not-finding.html#post6865411
