Replace worn out wiper arms with 4Runner arms (2 Viewers)

Found this thread the other day! Just snagged 2 sets of wipers from a Tacoma and 4runner (guy was parting out).
Instead of just taking the two left wipers I figured I might as well take the right side ones also.

So other than the cost of the right side wiper being more, is there any reason not to use it?
Figure I might as well throw a Left and Right on each cruiser instead of just have two lefts on one...

I gave the guy $40 for two sets of wipers (2xLeft and 2xRight) and some functioning bellcranks, not bad I think...

I'm using a left and right from a 4runner. I think the reason people use two of one side is because of the difference in length. They want the shorter of the two.

The weak link in our wiper system is the rods off the motor. They use plastic cups. At the age of our trucks too much friction my cause these to fail. I have spent literally hours working on my wipers. These cups are not available from what I could find. I had to get junker ones.

You don't want too much strain on these rods. You may even find with old wiper motors they won't move quick enough back and forth due to the extra tension on the glass.

why do the parts stores computers call for 18 inch for the rear when 12 inch blades are just about too long, or do I possibly have the wrong arm?

Has anyone come up with a fix for the parts that are NLA? Did you do anything other than replacing the parts with used parts?

That's good to see you can get these. I used old ones. They are a tough think to work on. They break easily, don't only buy two or three. Get 6 of them for spares!

When I went looking for the bushings the only thing available was an assembly, which had the rods and bushings etc. It was well over a 1000 dollars. I'd be putting in an electric hot rod version before I wasted 1000 bucks like that.LOL

I agree I would not pay that much. But the whole assembly is available for $226 US dollars.

Is that at a toyota dealer still in stock? New stock?

The wipers may be frustrating, but thank goodness they are not pneumatic wipers or something awful like that.

I installed this last year. Cost was worth it rather dealing with the bushings,which I did not know were available.

OK, this is one killer upgrade. Did it about a month ago and could not be happier. I replaced 1 year old OEM arms and blades, the 4runner stuff works 10x better than even new OEM 60 stuff.

lastly, get a bottle of this stuff(Spot X) to clean all the oil, grim and gunga off the windows, its amazing stuff, started using it 10+ years ago, it was made locally out of ground up oyster shells. Guess the local folks got bought up, but you can get it on amazon, you must use a non scratch pad and it takes some elbow grease, but the results are well worth it. Really work the area where the wippers overlap in the center area of window

So I tried the left and right wipers just because I had them. The right wiper arm has an angle to it that makes it sit really high on the windshield (unless something was wrong with mine), the left wipers sit perfectly on both sides as already shown by others.

You mean over the stud, then yes, it's the same.

Hey Tapage, that linkage went on my 62.I got it from Beno and I think it should fit the 60 as well but not sure. It came with the round rubber boots also. I bought new arms,wipers and plastic covers that go over the mounting nuts.
