Replace window regulator and motor?

Well, my replacement window motor already failed. Looks like it got water in it. I'm replacing with another one but am putting rtv all over the seams first.

Just grabbed an appropriate thread to relay some information on my window motor saga.

I've got a 1995 with 315k and have had slow front windows. I replace the seals and swapped in a set of motors and those failed. Staring at the price of Toyota motors gave me pause but at this point I was ready to pull the trigger as it's been a 3 year battle and with this heat and not being able to lower the DS window at drive throes was killing me.

At the last minute I decided to give RockAuto another chance. Glad I did, bought both front motor/regulator assemblies for about 150.00 shipped and they were made by Aisin.

The regulator and motors don't match the factory ones but the speed and ease that they move is a welcome sight.

Here is the information sheet that came with them.

Thank you for the info, I just ordered the RPAT-035 (the other was out of stock), new seals already received, look forward to testing this.
Isn't the assembly too complicated, even if the design is not the same?

The design is basically the same. In the pictures they look different because the motors are In different positions on gears. One motor is in the position as if the window is up and the other is down.

While the motor cable fit ok it is too long and needs to be tie wrapped out of the way.

I am checking in on thie also. I need to do at least two of mine. Is the Aisin still working?

I just went ahead with the Aisin on mine and now my windows roll up quickly even in cold weather. I also changed the runs as well. I have only had them in for a limited time but they installed easily and seem to work well.

Limited time on my Aisin install as well. But, they are working great - even in cold weather (coldest I have been in this year so far is 5 degrees, and they were fine). I also replaced the window runs at the same time.

Lots of good advice here. I replaced my driver's side with a new Dorman motor and regulator. Hoping it's more waterproof than the one in the pic above.

One thing that can help a lot and is easy to do before tearing anything down is to spray dry silicone into the tracks and cycle the window up and down. This can greatly improve performance while saving the cost of new parts.
